Sometimes people will flash one of my ROM's...and restore a backup file somewhere that contradicts a file in the new ROM...which, in turn, causes some sort of strange behavior. When this happens, often the user will blame the ROM...when actually the problem was caused by a restored file.
With thousands of people flashing these ROM's...most with good results because they seldom provide positive feedback...there are a few who report their problems...and I have to answer to them.
This is why I take a conservative approach to offering advise...because I've experienced these headaches in the past...because I usually don't get the whole story when I'm helping a user troubleshoot. By eliminating this one thing...it makes my life a whole lot easier.
Your tablet is your tablet. Feel free to try things out on your own...just remember the risks involved in causing unusual behavior by changing things in the ROM...and understand what you are doing and a plan to recover if problems start happening.
I've learned a bunch of things through trial and error, myself. Nothing can replace the training you get when you screw something up and have to figure out a solution on your own. I'm sure that Finless slammed his head against the wall several times after I created a problem...and had to ask him to bail me out of the problem...many times...while I was learning.
Flashing these rooted custom ROM's provides you with a huge amount of power over your device that the factories don't necessarily want you to have...or they would be rooted out of the box. You have a responsibility to learn how to manage that power.
So let me adjust my answer to the original question to..."it depends"........That was my original answer, but then I decided to take the conservative route instead.Randy

In the wifi ROM, I turn off as much of the 3G capability as possible to improve on battery consumption.
While I don't exactly know the answer to your question...I would suspect that flashing the 3G version of the ROM would bring back any 3G capability that was lost in the wifi only ROM.
Be careful, though. Pipo has a very short list of 3G dongles they support. Make sure your dongle is supported...or buy one from their list...here.Randy

flashed yesterday
I flashed it yesterday, and with the help of titanium, 1/2 h later, all was back.
Some apps need to be installed again, titanium don't re-install well. ((ie : google now launcher...)
Ran antutu, and result is 36000.
No crash, all semms to be fluid.
Thank you for that work.
Now, i'll test if the autonomy is better. With my wifi P9, the Riley rom 1.6 fully consumed the battery it in about 6 days, doing nothing, just sleep mode.
P9 is not my first android device.
Autonomy while sleeping is a real problems with those devices.
Why do they consume so much energy ?
I used to have an ipad, that was able to stay sleeping several weeks...with immediate waking up.
I'll never go back to jail / apple, but i know it is possible to reach the true deep sleep...
Why don't android devices act the same?

My tablet needs connects the wi-fi but not to the network. I need to tunr on and off several times until it connects to my network and even then after a while the conection dies and I need again to turn off and on until establish new conection.
Wifi reception strength is far better than M9Pro's one.
I can connect from places where M9 can't even see the network.

Well I being software related I can't understand why some don't have issues and some has. By the other hand I don't understand how could be hardware related if when I turn on the wi-fi I can see a lot of networks but it simply doesn't connect.
It's a bit stressful specially because I use the tablet, mainly, to browse, work, etc, basically always using internet.
I have tried so far without success:
- increase the wifi scan interval, in build.prop, from 15 to 180 (with this I seen to get it live more time than before, about 5 minutes or so instead of just 1 or 2 minutes, but can be placebo)
- changing settings in my hub, encryption keys, modes, etc
- change the collection from dynamic to static.
Nothing works.
Connects and starts at full speed 54mbps then progressively it's starts coming down and when I notice the pages aren't loading I go to settings wi-fi and my connection is at 5mbps, but in fact is not working.
I turn it off and I can't connect back. I have to turn off and wait a while, about 10 minutes or so and then it connects again. It's a stressful and painful cycle, if you know what I mean...
But shows a lot of connections but don't connect to any. Mine sometimes says out of rang when I'm standing right in front of the hub.Last edited by Djuganight; 18 January 2015, 14:12.
