What kind of Firmware do you have installed yet ?

Did you do Step by Step as written in the Readme ?
        Did you disable USB-Debugging ?
Is Storage set to "Mass Storage" and not "MTP" ?

If all set like it should be you will be able to reboot to Flash-Mode, either using the Flash-Tool from your PC or using the Reboot-APP installed on the UG802

Can I also instead buy a mini usb port and glue it on? If the contacts are strong enough, would this replace solder?

No that does not work. You have to solder it you wount get a connection.

Thanks. Would it make sense to preemptively glue the microusb port before it breaks?

If you are not able to solder it by your own - ask a TV-Technican perhaps he can solder it for you.

can somebody post clear picture from top, not from front where red wire must be connected.
like maxxxy do, but with good connected red wire
                      thank you

Maxxy's red wire connection worked for me!

I broke my micro usb port trying to recover from boot loop on Finless 1.6 and thought it was game over!
I soldered the wires as per maxxxy's picture apart from the white and green wires which I swapped over (a later post acknowledges they are wrong in the picture). My soldering skills were not good enough to solder them anywhere else. I then had to short the nand pads as I connected to power etc...but could not get Rockchip Batchtools 1.5 to flash driver so tried the 1.6 Finless loader which told me I had a device connected. Erased Nand, flashed 1.6 and success...couldn't have done it without this forum...thanks to all

Did you also dremel the case to fit the new wire? Did you solder the shield to ground as well?

No to both....to be honest I was just amazed that it worked and that I could restore Finless 1.6...as it's working I've promised myself not to try to tidy it up and break it again!
