In windows when I look at the monitor page I have only show refresh rates supported by the monitor and 23 and 24 hz are both in there.

I'm not sure the edid information is getting through correct I'll have to try and work out what I'm doing with it. Is it just a case of editing the file to include a modeline for 23.976?
Look for timings/formats supported under CE Video Identifiers. You could also save a report from Monitor Asset Manager and parse the raw data at www.edidreader.com.

In Windows you have to do an EDID override in the registry or use the custom resolution utility- http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Th...ity-CRU?page=1 Well.. that will not work. I overlooked the fact that this has Intel Graphics.

scratch all that. You can actually set custom display resolutions in Intel Graphics control panel. Can you access that on this device?

Within Windows I already have 24hz and 23hz modes available, through the windows setting and the intel control suite. So I assume 23hz is actually 23.976 I just need Kodi to use this instead of 24. Maybe I just need to create Advancedsetting.xml and put a override in there?

What happens if you set your desktop to 23Hz and disable the adjust refresh rate to match that of video options in settings (you may need to select advanced settings)? Shouldn't Kodi then run at desktop frame rate?

I just checked on my Intel Haswell HTPC. I am also seeing a +0.1% sync. However, the actual HDMI output is spot on 23.976Hz. In fact on Intel Haswell, 23 and 24 Hz modes are spot on 23.976 and 24.000. I am not sure how it is on Intel Bay Trail processors. I can get the actual refresh rate of the output signal from my Lumagen Video Processor and Quantum Data HDMI analyzer and I have 100% trust in those

This to me looks like is a Kodi problem. Kodi is syncing to 24Hz and is playing the video at +0.1% speed. The actual output is however 23.976Hz when Intel Graphics is set to 23Hz.

I will have to take a look at the Kodi logs to find out what is going on here. I have not paid attention to this before.

My baytrail-m J1900 works fine in openelec with 23.976 at +0.1% speed so I assume the x7 has the same gpu so should be able to do the same 23.976.

I will try what Noggin has suggested and set windows to 23hz and disable adjust frame rate to match video and see whats happening.

Also Im sure when I was looking last night when I pressed 'o' it showed 24 nest to 'S' but when I pressed Z it showed 23.98. What does pressing Z show compared to pressing 'o'?

What kind of problem do you actually have (other than numbers) on the X7? Do you see stuttering?
'Z' shows you the the refresh rate the display is set to. If you are seeing 23.98, then your TV is set to 23.976.

As I mentioned earlier, when Intel Graphics is set to 23Hz, the actual output is 23.976 despite what Kodi shows in 'S'. I have to check Kodi logs to see what exactly is going on here.

Well I tried setting windows to 23hz then playing the file and it still showed as 24 pressing 'o' but pressing 'z' showed 23.98. So I think it is actually playing back at 23.976.

The only thing I'm worried about is the amount of dropped frames. I haven't sat and watched a films yet so unsure if I can see any problems its just seeing the droped frames counting up thats disconcerting?

I went through some old threads at Kodi forum. It seems that the general consensus is to ignore the refresh rate and speed shown after 'S'. They are incorrect. If 'W' shows 23.98fps, then it is all good.

As for the dropped frames, you have to consider the fact that the Pipo X7 just meets the minimum requirements of Windows 8.1. We may have to wait for more user reports of Kodi playback on the X7.

I always tell folks that numbers do not lie and are the facts, but when it comes to quality of video playback, the ultimate judgement is made by your visual perception. If you don't see any problem with the playback, then the numbers just become irrelevant .
