    CX919 (possible clone) Flashing Problems

I purchased a CX919 and it arrived yesterday. I am not sure, but it might be a clone: you can see the device and some of the pictures of the device info (kernels etc.) HERE

It worked fine at the beginning, but as i wanted to try Finless rom 1.6b, I am now left with a non-working device.

    Long story short:
Whatever ROM I try, I am stuck with a constant reboot:
For finless rom 1.6b and 1.5 - TV recognizes the device and input for about 5 seconds, then it looks like I have disconnected the HDMI cable, so it does that over and over again. No images on screen.

    Original 4.4 and 4.2.2 Roms:
With 4.4 I got for penguins on the screen with the same behavior (constant reboot)
For the 4.2.2 by Tronsmart, i get the Tronsmart logo on screen with the same behaviour (constant reboot).

    Long story
I first started on a windows 8.1 machine. Everything went smoothly with the drivers, i got the NAND Erased, but when I tried to flash the rom, it failed on the first reset. After that Windows threw Code 43 in my face and would not recognize the device anymore.

So I installed Win7 on my mac with Parallels and I was able to reflash the device - with the issues presented here. I tried a combination of kernels and boots form the Finless 1.6b package to no avail. Also, the weirdest thing was that the flash tool in 1.6b folder would flash the ROM without errors and then boot back to flash mode - which was weird.
The RKBatch tool did everything correctly (that's what I used for the stock 4.4 and 4.2.2), and booted to normal mode with which I get at least an image on screen.
The Flash tool in 1.5 Booted to normal mode, but still - nothing on screen just constant rebooting.

I got my hands on a real win7 laptop today, so I will try everything again. Also found something called the "rescue rom", So I will give that a try. But if anyone could point me to the right direction, what could be the problem (I'm thinking kernels?) and what to do about it, it would be greatly appreciated.

A screenshot from the sellers page with system info: If anyone finds it helpful and could point me to the right direction, it would be great. Right now I have just a really expensive stick that I could throw to a dog.

Ok...so found out it's the dreaded 3188T model.

Off to finding a suitable rom and kernel...I have about 9GB of different ones downloaded. Going to be a long night...

If anyone has an idea of what combination might work, please do help me out.

I'm having a conversation here all by myself, but oh well... maybe it'll be useful for someone someday

So after flashing 10+ different roms I could find, I'm still left with nothing. With some I get at least a screen (either Google TV, Smart TV, Tronsmart or 4 Tux penguins), but it only boots up to that point and then resets ad infinitum.

I read somewhere that it might be because it's not getting enough power?
The powersupply it came with was UK one, but I need a EU one...also, the sticker on the thing said 12V 1500mA..which is weird for USB, but I'm not going to risk putting 12 Volts into the stick. So I'm off to get a decent 5V 2A power supply and see if it makes a difference. When it came, it worked okay with my phone charger, which was 5V 1.2A, but who knows...maybe it needs more power now with custom roms?

I have also written the seller asking for the stock ROM, but have not received a reply yet. Hopefully I'll get something form there. At this point, I just want any Working ROM, so the stick wouldn't be just a throwaway.

And another question: regarding the Finless flashing tool and the RKBatch tool - do I understand correctly, that when I flash with RKBatch, it will flash everything (including kernels etc), but when I flash with Finless, I can change the different components?

Still nothing. Quality 5V 2A didn't help me. And the answers from the seller are zero helpful - "Check HDMI". Well thanks a bunch! I just want the stock ROM for this particular device.

I'm going to try to get into recovery mode and see if that helps. Going to try every ROM & Kernel combination out there once again. If it worked once, there must be something out there that will work again!

Also, I'm a bit confused - the 3188T chip is used in several devices - like MK809III and the CX-919 - should I look into other models ROMs too?

And then there is something about recovery mode about which I am really not sure of what is meant by that.

Well..at least I got my moneys worth of trouble, so that's something.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with getting your CX919 clone up and running.

Did you try the PureX rom at the top of this forum? It requires a specific kernel that works on CX919 (directions in original post). With that flashing tool, you can switch the components; so you'd point to all the PureX files, and the specific kernel that works with CX919.

Also, re: power: does your TV have a USB port? That's how I have my Tronsmart CX919 plugged in and it seems to do the job; never had any stability issues, though if a good 2A adaptor isn't working for you, the USB may not solve this -- just something to try.

HTH and you are up and running soon.

Thank you, Mh1983, I will try that next.

As for now, Roms that I have tried, can be separated into two categories:

MK809III_SAM321_KitKat_1080p_Custom_Rom_V1.3, cyxtech_rk31_dongle_ap6210_140606_8G2G - Smart TV Logo Boot Loop,
            Geekbuying_TV BOX_RK3188T_Android 4.4_official_AP6210, PureX 1, 1.1 and 2.1 - 4 tux penguins boot loop
Update_bt919_rk3188_dongle_ap6210_131123 - "Bluetimes, play with me" boot loop

Which are the closest things to getting something on the screen.

I have also tried Finless 1.6b, and Finless Kitkat2.0, Rescue Rom, Wasser, Kasty, Some Tronsmart and other "orginal roms" found in the threads here, Neomode 1.3, 1.7 Hybrid, 3.0 and 3.1 and I get nothing. Sometimes no screen and just boot loop, sometimes the TV will not even recognize HDMI input.

So I´m going to look into the PureX kernel...and then try every kernel I have with each of the roms that at least displayed something. My logic is that..if it ran once, it must run again..somehow.

Also, the support from the seller is absolutely useless. I have gotten no information except to "check HDMI" ad infinitum.

Any suggestions what to try are always welcome!
            Thank you

              Re:
              PureX + D33 kernel - no luck
Still 4 tux penguins and boot loop

Example, if it should help anyone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqwDlgA0qyY

How did you find out if you have the T model or not?

I found it in the documentation, that it is indeed 3188T model. If you cannot find it then the only way is to open the device and look at the processor - the model number is written on it.

As for my case - I'm still lost. Can't find a combination that works. I'm suspecting SoC/pll leakage - not a singel kernel will work. Dreadful.

I'm having the exact same problem you are. It started with my stick (a J22 with RK3188(t?)) restarting after freezing, then just rebooting and rebooting and rebooting.

I've tried a few different power adapters to no avail, and about 10 different firmwares/roms and all that happens is that I either will see the 4 penguins or whatever boot logo then it resets and just keeps doing that.

Let me know if you get it figured out!

Will do! I'm hoping you'll do the same.

The weird thing that I cannot figure out, is that it used to work - so it must have some firmware that makes it tick - it cannot just break after a reset. It must be a software problem...

So I opened mine up, maybe someone can help figure out what exact type of device it is:

                        http://i58.tinypic.com/73fkwn.jpg
                        - Processor
                        http://i61.tinypic.com/2ly5out.jpg - Backside
http://i60.tinypic.com/e7i4xu.jpg - Without the masking sticker. 3188-T it is.

The weird thing is - is it supposed to say CYX_809III on the board?
Should I go to trying out MK809III firmwares?

You might try that. I contacted my seller and she got all panicked that I was trying multiple CX919 roms. She said they wouldn't work because they use a different main board. I wonder if they're packaging the MK809III as a CX919 thinking nobody would know. I'm having the exact same issue, I think tomorrow I'll try out the 809iii rom. I have a backup of my stock rom, I haven't reverted to it yet to know if it's working, but if you want a copy of it I can send one to you, it might not be fancy, but it might keep you from owning a brick.

That would be highly appreciated. My first attempts with 809III roms have been similar to previous attemps. Would be great if you could upload it and share!

When I get home from work tonight I'll zip the folder and see how to post it.
