I just Dumped a Proscan 10.1 PLT1044 , its a AllWinner Boxchip A10, I need some help

Ok, so it looks like there's only partial SU and no google play, so I could probably add those without too much difficulty, but honestly, I bet all you'd have to do is drop a superuser.apk and a vending.apk into /system/app, change the permissions and you'd have root & google play (that's pretty much all I had to do for my ROM.)

I finally did a dump last night and uploaded it earlier today., its on the first page .. maybe you can take a look at it. see what you think.

I was just thinking,
adb made the files in the folder in the adb file folder on my pc, those are the files I used for the upload file. maybe why theres a bad checksum or crc error..
theres a dump file on the tab with the files in it, should I use 7 zip and zip it into a .zip file on the tablet? maybe it would get rid of the bad checksum or crc error ?
gees its not letting me zip it from the right click .. grr

I went into the dump folder on the tablet using esfile explorer, I made a update zip file with the four files with esfile explorer, I then uploaded them directly to dropbox from the tablet through the usb connection. I hope this works. here is the URL .. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ss6yhjsimzebnmg/update.zip .. becareful using this, Im not responsible if you brick your tablet. open it up look at the files in the system.tgz .. im not sure what the .img files do.

Hey Bryman-in ES File Explorer, did you try to set root access via the settings in the app? That should tell you right away if you have partial root. If you can get root access, all you have to do is copy superuser.apk and vending.apk into /system/app and change permissions "rwx r r" (easy to do with ES File Explorer-it has check boxes).

Okay, just tried your suggestion in Esfile explorer, Wouldn't give me root.. Super one click 2.3.3 say`s I have root access, I tried installing the latest busy box a long with the latest su, to get cwm working, it wouldn't work, Im trying to get a working rom, theres a poster that has two of these tabs, one works the other doesn`t . I have to go for a few hours, hopefully I will run into a friend that's a Linux Ubuntu guru. maybe he can help root this thing. either way, I need to reset this thing do a wipe on it and start out fresh, there might be some conflicts going on.

There's a whole lotta stuff wrong here:

The image that elektrik created is intended to be flashed using a Windows program named LiveSuite. It's usually packaged with ROM updates from the manufacturer (along with detailed instructions since the program itself is in Chinglish). If neither of you has ever updated your ROMs, then you probably don't have it. Most anyone in this forum should be able to zip it up & make it available.

However... the image in question is defective. I downloaded it & tried to pull it apart using the same tool elektrik used to create it. The process failed with no output and no error messages. (elektrik, give it a try - maybe my download was corrupt. If not, maybe you can repackage it).

FYI... the modified dumps that got repackaged into the image could instead have been packaged as a zip & installed using Recovery. However, the zip has to include an installation script, and it has to be digitally "signed". You're getting these errors because it has neither.

Just jumping in here, but can you guys/gals do a backup to SD card, using recovery? If you can, couldn't you just copy the backup and modify it, and then use the modified files for a restore?

Also have you guys tried to use KKRom Kit 9, to get a cwm on your tab?

Just throwing out ideas here.

Your premise is incorrect-I was repacking the system.img only. I was going off the assumption that he could reflash via recovery, not knowing whether the tablet even uses Live Suite or knowing anything else about the tablet (especially given the feedback from customer support). As for Live Suite, I would have to do much more work than just packing a system.img for him to try. I can do that, but that would take more time...

Going on the picture that came up for the proscan plt1044, looks like it may be a rebranded ployer momo11 star. Might give you something to go on for finding a working base ROM to try to work from since you need some kind of a working livesuite image for your tablet to be able to use your dumped images to make a working livesuite image from your dumps. basically you need the support files to be correct for your hardware so the images can be put in the right places http://www.benovotech.com/html_products/101-inchA10-Capacitive-Android-40-1GB-DDR3+8GB16GB-174.htmls]
