You connect the Box to the Computer and Flash the New Image in the Box.
The Best Image should be that one with 4GB User Space.

Sorry to ask you again, which file should I use to flash? RKBatchTool or RKAndroidTool?
I want to update the ROM but don't want to lose the preinstalled Kodi.

I used RKBatchTool 1.7

Install RKBatchtool on PC
Download Freakbox firmware zipfile and unzip
Start RKBatchtool and let it point to the location where you placed the unzipped firmware image
Shutdown Freakbox
Connect Freakbox to pc
Press Freakbox reset button (tiny hole in the bottom) and simultaneously turn on the Freakbox
When the connection is OK, block 1 in the Batch Tool should be green.
Click "upgrade"
The firmware image will now be downloaded to the Freakbox. This is a 2 step process. First is the actual download, second is verification.
When complete, the Freakbox will automatically restart.
On restart you can disconnect the Freakbox from the pc.
The Freakbox may be connected to the TV during the flashing process.

Hi Ray,

I followed your instruction and the was able to upgrade the firmware with no error. This is the message: "*******Upgrade Done Success <1> Fail<0> Time<186203>ms*******

However now when i connect the Freakbox to TV, all i can see is the Freakbox logo and nothing else.
Is there anyway I can recover or restore the box to previous state before the upgrade?

Hi Ray,

Plug the box to TV and wait for 45 minutes,the Freakbox logo still spinning, i don't think it should take that long. I think it's already turned into a brick now!.

I bought 2 Freakboxes, one for me and the other for my sister, her one has not being upgrade yet with new firmware. Is there anyway I can clone my sister's box so that I can get everything back or is there any recovery option for Freakbox or is there any Freakbox reseller in Australia who can fix or rebuild the box? I am willing to pay for the service.

Paid almost $400 for 2 boxes.

After trying a lot of things I went to Swipe (last item I think) and then factory settings. I started again and Iwas that the Freakbox was updated.

That's strange because a complete image is flashed, so after flashing you lost all your data anyhow. But it is still worth the try of course.

@Tien: Have you tried re-flashing the box? I know you had a "flash successful" message, but maybe something went wrong after all.

Thanks for the new stock rom image, it works very good.
One thing that didn't work for me is VPN. When I use a VPN connection,
the system freezes and the box switches OFF. I can make a succesful connection
in the system settings but as soon as I use it, things go wrong.
I tried different VPN methodes but they all gave the same result.
It would be nice if it could be fixed.

What Kind of VPN Provider you use?
Also where you Add you VPN Connection?

Hi

I use VyperVPN and tried PPTP and L2TP.
I add my VPN in settings->wireless & networks->more->VPN->+
It makes a connection but when i start a browser, spmc etc... the box freakes and switches off

Please use there APK for Android and it should Work.
When you add it like u make then it will give some Crash cause you must Setup a Lockscreen.

I also think there is something wrong with the mount point for external_SD. Using ES File Explorer I noticed that external_SD is not mentioned in the &quot;Local&quot; tab. Browsing via the /mnt folder I can access /external_SD and I can create new folders, but I cannot copy any files to the new folders.
From FW 1.04 I remember that internal_SD and external_SD were both present in the &quot;Local&quot; tab in ES File Explorer.

I used Paragon NTFS&HFS+ to automatically mount my usb sticks with the previous ROM image, that worked fine, but in this version its not working. I can see the files in es file explorer but other apps (spmc, mxplayer.) dont see the files. Opening the file from es file explorer results in error like: 'cant locate file' in app like mxplayer, wondershare player etc...I also tried manual mount points, but same result. I think now only apps with root can access them.

I just installed VpnROOT - PPTP - Manager.
It works, apps can use the VPN connection without the box switching OFF.

Hi folks.

My Freakbox arrived yesterday, and I'm afraid I have a brick. Neither my TV nor my computer recognizes that it's there. When I turn it on, the power button flashes blue and red, although it will stay on blue after I reset it with the button on the bottom. The color of the light doesn't seem to make any difference anyway.

I did this:

Only the connection never shows up -- block 1 never turns green.
