On my UT2 Ugoos (pretty much the same thing as Freakbox) when I connect to the PC the power supply to the box must be disconnected first, then connect OTG cable to box. Make sure to use the factory supplied OTG cable as some others will not fully plug into the box due to the insulator being to long. While holding down the reset button with a paper clip plug the OTG cable into the PCs USB port. Continue to hold in the reset button and you should hear a connection sound for USB on the PC so make sure you have the PC volume up so you don't miss it. You can have HDMI connected to a TV, this helps as after a flash succeeds the box will boot.

Hi fellow freakbox owners. Anyone have any experience of using an external USB DVD drive with the box? The one I have to hand, which I know works perfectly well with other hardware doesn't deem to be able to draw enough power from the freakbox to run, even with the data USB cable and power USB cable both plugged into the freakbox.. I realise I could employ the power of a powered USB hub but that detracts from the 'elegance' of the set up.. i.e. more wires. Anyone have any bright ideas?

I fear the Freakbox project died a premature death. I too was hoping for lots of updates, enhancements, recoveries and other community-driven stuff. There were a lot of plans, Cyanogenmod, Ubuntu, Lollipop... It didn't happen. I even enlisted to become a beta tester. The concept was great: a device for enthousiasts by enthousiasts. I guess the biggest problem was that it took well over 6 months between the announcement and the actual delivery of the boxes. When it finally arrived, it's specs were already outdated. But I love the thing for what it does and I use it almost every day.Freakbox V1 F/W 1.0.6
