    keyboard case that works good.

I bought this keyboard case from amazon.

Its got spring on top side that holds tablet snug. Tabs on left and bottom also, a elastric strap on right top to hold it in place. USB from the case fits nicely into the tablet when in open position. But you have to remove it out, when closing, otherwise it wont close fully or it might stress the USB wire.
    Overall, works pretty good.

Check this out http://www.l-com.com/item_mobi.aspx?id=23156 Be sure to order the type 1-exit so it points toward keyboard when plugged in. Also I went all over looking for a keyboard case and found they are $70-$90 in stores. I found a ton of them on Amazon for like $5-$25. I'm not kidding! You do have to add shipping on but some vendors offer free shipping if order is $25 or more. I am ordering three cause I bought 3 Polaroid pmid10c, one for me and one for each of my college kids. BTW.... I just bought mine at menards for $129+taxunda yestetday. They are on sale I think till Sunday. For the price how can you go wrong, especially what my kids will use it for. I will try the instructions you have here for Google store. Has anybody figured out how to get netflix to work. Maybe I missed it reading through the thread. Thanks to Single dad and Dawieg for all the effort and info. I am new to all this and very illiterate when it comes to computers so I won't attempt anything alone but we all were babies once right. If I understand correctly.... I don't want my tab to be "bricked".

Home button not working on tablet

Got the PMID10C for Xmas. A few days after the receiving it, the home button on the screen as well as the physical button on the bottom of the tablet stopped working. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution.
Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Two of the tablets I am dealing with have this same issue. Not sure how to fix, or even why the issue came about. I had both those tablets loaded and running golauncher HD, on one of them I uninstalled golauncher, rebooted and no change. Not sure what the fix could be but my daughter is really annoyed.

I had the same problem, i reinstalled Amazon app store but it was still problematic. It didn't load completely most of the time.

Thanks to all who have been sharing information.

I am new to Android and tablets. The 10C is my first foray into these uncharted territories. I applaud all of you who have been sharing your experiences and knowledge and can't wait to dive in.

                  3 Questions...so far

First, I'd like to start by thanking SingleDad for starting this post! It has been very helpful. I am new to the tablet world and wanted to start off with something inexpensive yet have decent performance. So, I purchased the PMID10c and have been happy with it thus far. With SingleDad's posts I was able to install the Google Play store!

                  Now for my questions...

                  Question#1 - Wallpaper Setup
For some reason when I am choosing one of the default wallpapers the image in preview looks good but when I set it, it then appears to zoom in and makes the image somewhat blurry. Also tried to use a photo and the cropping tool is driving me crazy. There are too many rectangles and what you'd expect to set as your crop (inside the centrally located rectangle) doesn't display right as wallpaper. Any ideas on how to get around these two issues would be appreciated!

                  Question #2 - SD Card
I installed a MicroSD card (32GB) into the expansion slot. My intent was to keep the internal memory as clean as possible as I've read that it will improve speed when surfing the web. However, when I go to move Apps I've downloaded to the MicroSD card, it doesn't give me the option of selecting the EXTSD (MicroSD), only SD. Can someone explain if there's a way to change this. Also I'm confused as to why there are two Internal Storage areas shown in Storage in the Settings area. I'm guessing one is the SD and the other is a type of hard drive or SD is split between the two?

Question #3 - Root Explorer App Disappeared
In order to install Google Play app I purchased and installed Root Explorer via the Amazon App Store. I was able to use it successfully to install Google Play but after a while I noticed that the icon disappeared from my home screen and from the Apps screen! When I went into App Manager it had all but been removed! Any ideas on why this happened?

Thanks in advance for helping me out everyone!

                    problems with google play

hi, after having some trouble moving the vending.apk file to the system/app folder i finally got it done using root browser...followed the instructions and google play is installed and opens fine but when i try to update or install anything i keep getting the error msg "error retrieving information from server [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]" any suggestions or ideas?

There isn't really anything "Kindle Fire HD" specific about the files or the install.

The older files and instructions I typically use for Polaroid tablets weren't working for me. So I found a much newer walk through of someone who installed Google Play on the newly released Kindle Fire Hd. Sure enough the files they linked to and their instructions worked for me and my Polaroid PMID10C.

Let's break it down step by step. Here's the info cut and pasted from the link I posted. These are the exact files and instructions I used. It's basically just following them step by step. (I used the "Root Explorer" app for steps 4 and 5

                    1. Step 1 you skip because the Polaroid 10.1" PMID10C is already "rooted" out of the box.

                    2. Just like the step says you download and install the "GoogleServices Framework apk file. Download it from the link the original author posted: http://www.mediafire.com/?zaumfwhraxcifqf
You can download to a Micro SD card, or USB flash drive and then transfer the file to your tablet. You could probably also download directly from your tablet if you wanted to using the internet browser. If may give you a warning/ask you if you want to install Google Services framework b/c it's already on the tablet. I just went ahead and installed the downloaded "GoogleServices" apk over the existing file on the tablet. When complete, click "Done".

                    3. Download the Google "Vending" apk file from: http://www.mediafire.com/?31bn3e258jjpj8d and transfer it to the tablet if you didn't download it there.

                    4. Here's where it's just a little tricky if you are new to this. You'll need a "special" app to access files with superuser permission to make changes to permissions etc. I use a paid version of the "Root Explorer" app but there are free versions and free alternatives out there. Open the Root Explorer app & navigate to the vending.apk file you downloaded. We need to move the file to the /system/app spot on the tablet.

To do this, while still within "Root Explorer" (or whatever file management app you're using) Long-press Vending.apk & select the "Move" option on pop-up menu. Now navigate to the /system/app folder and tap the "paste" button to paste the vending apk into the /system/app folder.

                    5. Now we need to set the permissions settings for vending.apk to match the permission settings of the other files in that folder. Long-press Vending.apk & select "Permissions" from pop-up menu. Change permissions to match all other apps in this folder (rw-r--r--). Check the first two boxes on the first line and then the first box on the second and third lines.

                    6. Install Vending.apk (Just press it and select install)

                    7. You now have the old Google Market app on your tablet. Go ahead and open it and follow the walk through it gives you to set it up with your existing google account and email address.

                    8. Now we need to update Google Market to the newer "Google Play". Download the "Play.apk" file to your tablet and install it. (The original author's download link takes you here: http://www.mediafire.com/?wwcqrlfwt8o1gnv)

                    9. That should be it!

All of the standard disclaimers apply here. This went well for me but I did blindly install files downloaded from an unknown third party.

If you have done something like this before and you follow the steps carefully the odds of messing anything up or permanently bricking your tablet are pretty slim. That being said...I don't think Polaroid/Southern Telecom has released the factory firmware yet. It generally takes them a long time to do so. If you DO manage to mess anything up (unlikely) you'll likely have to wait until they release the firmware to fix your tablet.

                    Hope that helps!

                      Hi All!
I'm new to this forum, I just wanted to add that when I installed Google Play to my PMID10C, I used this method:

it was really simple, I had no problems at all and I'm fairly skittish when using code or installing stuff.

                      Hope that helps!

                        Lost Volume Control Buttons!

Please help, if you can! I have lost the touch buttons at the lower left area of the screen for controlling the volume. I know I can still go into my settings panel and adjust the volume but that involves stopping the application I'm using. Sometimes I just want to quickly turn down the volume (or turn it up) and now I can't do that! I've tried and tried to figure it out but have no idea. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!!

I wonder if this tablet was the one I saw in Roses Dept Store, the cheap dept store, last week. The one I saw there was a Polaroid 10 in tablet with dual cameras. I was so tempted but can't afford right now cuz it was $169 something. Yikes. They had what looked like the PMID 4311 too and a 7 inch tablet. I already have the PMID 701i and PMID 4311 but the larger screen sure looked nice.

I put a galaxy screen protector from zaqq on my pmid1000 . It is a little short on the long side and a fration short on the narrow side, but works pretty good.
