Do you have any plans for any further development of this ROM for the N101? Is there any movment on the Rock chip Mirror feature of the software? Has Bob made any headway on Rockchip? He seems to have been very quiet regards this tablet and development!

        Kind regards

          Yuandao N101 RileyROM 1.9

I have been centering my updates on new firmware releases. It seems like Yuandao has stopped supporting this tablet.

I haven't gotten any requests to add new features. Bob hasn't told me about the mirror development.

Without kernel sources it is hard to make many further changes.

Hi Riley, how are you? I flashed your ROM and so far all is working well. The only issue I have is when I try to connect the tablet to the PC, the PC does not recognize the tablet. Can you let me know what settings in the tablet I need to set to. I have USB debugging on. Anything else I need to turn on/off ?

Well done on a good ROM

            Kind regards

Sorry for the short answer. I was running scoreboard at a ball game.

I'm fine, just really busy these days. I hope that solved your problem.

I have found that running on a Windows 7 64 PC, you may not be able to get into flash mode by pressing the button on the flash tool. What I had to do was hold down the volume - button and press the power button while plugged into USB to get into flash mode.

Anyway...the reason I'm telling you this is because I have been experimenting with porting some other more recent firmwares to the N101 to see if there is an improvement. I have been looking around the internet to see if anyone has been updating this tablet...but not for a while.

The last week in June, Yuandao released an update for the N70S...with some housecleaning within the system. I was able to successfully port this new system over to the N101 and it runs smoothly.

So, I'm working on a version 2.0 for the N101-1.

                  Currently I have:

                  Root
                  Debloat
                  Init.d Support
Parameter files for 2, 4, 6, or 8gb user app space.
                  Working Finless CWM Recovery

Now's your chance to request any added features you want me to include.

I'm sticking with the stock UI this time. I have Tattman65 working on some new boot artwork.

Well done Randy, it would be be good to see a new rom for the N101.

I was trying a bunch of different custom roms a few months ago but the two major issues with it I think never really got resolved, at least not back then, would be good to know if there was any progress on them and if they will still be an issue on your next rom.

The larger than normal/expected power drain when in sleep mode, I have a Cube U30GT also and this can stay in sleep mode for 11 days and still have over 30% power readily available, the N101 does not even manage 2 days with total battery drain.

The popping noise that occurs from the speakers when resuming from sleep mode or sometimes periodically even when in sleep mode.

If they cannot be resolved I will be selling the N101 and consider a Cube U30GT2 instead as this seems to be a much better unit overall.

                    Thanks
                    Kirk

I can experiment with the standby time. So far, with this test ROM I don't have any pops in the speakers when coming out of sleep mode.

What application requires you to have the tablet in sleep for so long? I'm just curious, because if it's going be days before I need the tablet again...I just turn it off. I've had the N101 in a drawer for about 3 months...and it still had a 100% charge when I took it out to start testing this. Just curious. But I agree there shouldn't be that much difference between the two tablets.

I have a Cube U30GT2 and it IS very nice. The Pipo tablets are also very good, but if you like 10" tablets, the Cube has better specs than the Pipo M9. I really like my 9.4" M8 Pro. Side by side, though...it's hard to beat the performance of the N101, it still is a really good tablet.

Nothing that really requires it just something I have noticed, my wife uses the Cube and has often left it in sleep mode for many days, once 11 days and it still had charge, just dissapointing I cannot do similar with my N101, I believe it is a design flaw as I remember reading an obscure post on a russian site somewhere with a hardware hack to fix it, I generally power it off when not in use also and the charge holds, not a great issue as the android startup is generally very quick, ~ 20 seconds.

The bigger issue for me is the pop sound so if you are not experiencing it then this is good news as I like the tablet design and screen and would like to keep using it, currently mine is sitting in a drawer . . .

If you need any testing or dev tasks help let me know am happy to contribute.

Yes, I was excited to run across this discovery. Although the kernel isn't updated, the ROM seems to run smoother. Like I say, I have not experienced any popping noise in the speaker.

I really think the main reason for the update is to refresh certain system apps that over time reduce compatibility with current apps from Google Play Store.

This may be the last update we see for this tablet, so I want to give it the utmost attention.

                            Great news, randy.

I have the 32gb version. Is it possible to put a switch in for that?

Anyway, many thanks for all your work on this rom!

I'm not sure what you mean...this ROM works on both 16 and 32gb versions. I'm running it on my 32gb version.

Good to hear. My misunderstanding. You mentioned 2 4 6 and 8 gigabyte user space and I thought it referred to the total space available.

Now to see if I can flash this thing.
