Arnova 10 G2 Custom ROM by Finless V1.4 available!

Download Anycut from the market. Anycut allows you to put icons on your desktop for hidden settings and things like contacts and sync that you can't normally get to from built in menus. Thats how I got to the contacts and sync settings.

I installed Anycut, but when I try to set up a shortcut to contacts, nothing comes up. (However, I noticed that Go Contacts *can* see the contacts). Is there a trick or step I'm missing?

Bob, does your ROM include support for Iptables? I need these to get the tablet working with a proxy server using an app like Auto Proxy. If not do you have plans to add them in the near future?

There is an app called Iptables beta that apparantly can add Iptables, does any one if this will work?

Harold, when yo use anycut and go to put a shortcut to the desktop you may see several contacts and sync's listed. You need to try each one of them till you find the one that works.

finbarr, no none of the Arnova's have IPTables in the ROM. No clue how to ad them either at this time.

Nope, there are no contacts whatsoever. Not a problem, using Go Contacts as a workaround. Believe it or not, I am using Groove IP with Google Voice and have turned the Arnova into a second telephone for VOIP via wifi!

Yep... done the same myself! I wish Talkatone would finish thier app for Android as on my iPod it works great and FREE inbound and outbound phone calls.

Herold, I know it is in there with Anycut as I did it and am using it. When I get home from work I will describe better how to get to it.

Well, i have 9 G2 (1.3 rom from Finless) and it seems to have support for iptables.
At least kernel messages for iptables modules are present and executable itself exist and even show empty chains for iptables -L (with error message about getsockopt).

So you can try to check in console.

Bob, flashed the G2 last night and have been playing with it all day,I must say that it keeps getting better and better. Thanks for making a good product great..Archos should be sending. Money and products your way instead of Arctablet. Quick question, with the 3g Dongle does it have to have a carrier service to work if not what sim card are they using. Will it also recognize a bluetooth dongle?

The 3G support is from Fenice and I added it as user reports said it worked. I really know nothing about them honestly but yes you will need a carrier to get 3G.
I did not add the BT support to this ROM as I do not know what BT sticks the drivers even support or how well it works. I need to get a BT stick and do testing before I put something in a ROM that I have no info about. Maybe the next ROM I will.

Harold, run anycut and select New Shortcut
Then select activity
At the top should be 3 or more "Accounts and Sync Settings".
One of them will work. The other cause me a force close. Try each one till you find one that works. FOr me it was the first one in the list.

Now I have been unable to add an account using this but you can setup what to sync. So before running it make sure you have logged into the market or setup a Gmail account first.

Then run the shortcut and at the bottom it should list the account to sync. Click the green ball and you will get another menu listing sync options for apps you have installed. My 1.4 ROM before adding anything I list:
Sync Contacts
Sync Gmail
Sync Picasa Web Albums
Sync Calendar

I've tried all 3 (the first last night, the other two just now). All three create a shortcut for the desktop. When I press the shortcut, the tablet spontaneously reboots. That's the first (second and third) time the tablet has *ever* spontaneously rebooted. And this is on your 1.4 ROM.

FYI you will find some other interesting settings in there too!

Here is what I have played with:
Go Dialer. Installs as part of Go Launcher or some other GO widget or app. You do not see this at all except in anycut. It is a bitchen dial pad that will work with google voice and an app called google voice call back!!

Voice input and output with text to speech and speech to text

Proxy settings!!!!! I have not tested that yet to see if it actually works!

SIP settings. Yes this works IF you have a SIP phone client installed.

Testing: gives a bunch of wifi and other interesting info!
