    [ROM][ICS] Elektricity ROM - PMID4311

*********NOTE: BEFORE FLASHING, PLEASE CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A NEWER PMID4311. IF SO, PLEASE READ THE POSTS BELOW-YOU MAY ACTUALLY IN FACT HAVE THE EMERSON 543 BRANDED HARDWARE IN A PMID4311 CASE! IF THAT IS THE CASE, DO NOT FLASH THIS ROM, USE THE JELLY BEAN VERSION INSTEAD!!!!**************
    Introducing Elektricity ROM ICS!

    New in 0.1 (Initial release):
    • Force GPU rendering for speed (checkbox not ticked by default, even though it's enabled).
    • Build.prop tweaks for speed
    • Wifi tweaks
    • Incorporated LiquidLimez Google Play fixes
    • NAND reformat, providing a 384mb system partition (Removed OEM partition).

    Features:
    • Based on latest stock Polaroid ICS
    • Rooted
    • Latest Google Play installed by default.
    • Busybox updated to latest version
    • init.d support by default
    • Scripts for speed added
    • Latest CWM recovery
    • Petrus' 'Reboot' application. Features:
      • Reboot
      • Power Off
      • Reboot into CWM recovery

    • Apex Launcher enabled as default launcher

Thanks to: 900supersport, petrus, Tattman65, Finless, LiquidLimez, dolorespark

    Installation instructions:
***NOTE: IF YOU ARE FLASHING FROM THE STOCK ROM, PLEASE REMOVE YOUR EXTERNAL SD CARD BEFORE FLASHING-IF YOU DO NOT, YOU MAY LOSE YOUR DATA!!!!***
    • Follow these instructions with the exception noted below (No reason to re-invent the wheel): http://southerntelecom.com/polaroids..._pmid4311.html
    • In step 17, instead of using "PMID4311-20120712.img", you'll obviously want to select "4311_elektricity_rom_v_01.img"
    • 'LET IT SIT' for at least 5 minutes before doing anything to let the ROM "Settle".
    • Reboot (I just added this step as a 'just in case things aren't quite working the way you want')

    Problems after you flash?:

PLEASE DO NOT REPORT PROBLEMS IN THIS THREAD until you've confirmed you followed the above instructions EXACTLY. Please don't report the problem in this thread until you've tried a factory image install first to see if that cures the problem.

    CHANGELOG:
    See post #2

    Features:
    • wifi tweaks
    • Added Google Play
    • Init.d support (and Init.d tweaks)
    • CWM recovery

    Files updated:
    • everything in the /permissions folder has been updated to LiquidLimez files
    • build.prop

    Known issues:
    • Apex Launcher needs to have the 'behavior' set from 'default' to 'auto-rotate' in the launcher settings to have the home screen display in portrait mode-this is specific to Apex Launcher (and I'm guessing due to the size of the display of the PMID4311)

    Installation:
    • See Post #1

    Changelog:
    • 0.1

    Installation:
    • See Post #1

I tried the ROM, I have a Polaroid PMID4311, the same tablet and after installing the ROM, I get no touchscreen after powering on, I followed the directions completely with no problems. Why is this?

Try the update.zip from dolorespark's post. My ROM is based on the stock, so dolorespark's theory may be true:

        "Compatibility & Bugs

The very newest Polaroid 4311's may actually be Emerson 543's in disguise - there's no way to tell from the outside. If your touchscreen stops working after flashing the 4311 version of the update zip, try the one for the 543."

Thank You! That helped. Now since I have a machine in a different case, is it ok to freely install a em543 ROM or anything else related to em543?

I'm not sure, but if flashing that update.zip worked I would assume so....

for reference, could you tell me which file you used? Was it this one?: 543-dopa-framework-20130108.zip

Yes that is the file, but I used both files, 1 being the ROM I assume.

good to know but if all you did was flash both files you only upgraded from my ROM (ics) to jelly bean. I was looking to see if his zip file fixed the touch screen issue on your 4311 with *my* Rom. no biggie though, i'LLC just change the warning

Ok, well I believe that the first one to install is just the recovery which I had to install via livesuite, and the second through the recovery. Is it possible or do you have a way of installing your ROM via recovery?

Just wanted to give a big thanks to elektrik for all the hard work on this rom. Installation went perfectly the first time on my 4311. The performance is surprisingly good on this little $55 device. I'm having a ball using it as a media/email machine. My phone is a better device in every way but maybe knocking this little thing around will extend the life of the phone.

Thanks again for all you do.

Sure! I'm a bit overwhelmed at work, but wait until this little bad boy gets the tweaks of my latest ROM ;-)

                          Re: [ROM][ICS] Elektricity ROM - PMID4311

Is there a way to make this ROM work with the EM543? I got Dopa's CM Jellybean ROM working but performance isn't as responsive as the stock ROM and everything looks compressed, icons chopped off, etc... Apex launcher seems slow. I would prefer stock with latest Google Play.

I would have to research it, but to be honest, I don't have the time. I *believe* the specific touch screen file that is different from the EM543 and the 4311 has been mentioned in the forums-you could try to find that file and replace it on your EM543, but do so at your own risk-I don't make elektricity ROM for tablets I don't own and I don't own that tablet.

Hey, I seen that the Polaroid site has a new update available with the fix for the TS; do you think you can rebuild your ROM with the TS fix included?
