    Re: Penta WS708C

Our administrator, Neomode suggests you try his port of Android 4.2.2 for the rk29xx.

Here is the link to the thread.

If you just substitute your kernel with the one in the kit, it should work.

Just read the thread...they have been working out some kinks...but it IS the latest Jelly Bean release.

      hello Randy,
I think we have to replace
etc/recovery.fstab in Ramdisk of cwm recovery...
But CWM recovery.img extraction is not possible in my kitchen..
It is saying that magic header is not found...
Is there any different tool to extract cwm recovery.img..?

        One more thing..
Today i tried ur beta rom...
Tools provided for flashing are working...
But after flash over my tab is not booting at all so i revert back to ur alpha rom which is working fine for me..
I followed all the instruction in readme file but its not booting...

One more thing i learned from BOB's post is to edit parameter file..
And i manage to do this in ur alpha rom with 2gb for userdata & 768mb of system...
        And its working well...

Link u provided is for 10" tablet right... Will this rom work for my 7" tab?

Here's how to extract the CWM Recovery.img:

              From your working folder type:

              sudo dd if=recovery.img of=recoverycwm.img-ramdisk.gz skip=8 bs=1 count=20000000

              mkdir recoverycwm
              cd recoverycwm
              sudo gunzip < ../recoverycwm.img-ramdisk.gz | sudo cpio -i --make-directories

Then you will have the files from the CWM version of Recovery.img

After you're done copying/tweaking files recreate the file by doing this:

              sudo find . ! -name "." | sort | sudo cpio -oa -H newc | sudo gzip -n >../customrecovery.gz
              cd ..
              rkcrc -k customrecovery.gz customrecovery.img

Now, that will be your new cwm recovery and you can flash that as your recovery.img

I have tried unpacking, mounting, extracting with every tool known to mankind and this is the only way I have been able to extract the cwm recovery.img. Sorry, it took so long, because I couldn't remember exactly how I did it, so I had to try it first.

                  Ok...
                  I will try this method..
BTW i am using android kitchen tools made by xda-developers..
In this is kitchen they had provided very easy option to pack/repack boot.img & recovery.img..

Yep, but it didn't work for this particular file for some reason.

I learned how to do it manually, and prefer that route most of the time. Kitchens tend to put files where I don't want them, or can't find them.

It is worth a try, Neomode says it will. With stock kernel, this is made for rk29xx systems. He has it working on an Arnova Childpad. It is working on the Arnova 10bG3, also.

You may have screen resolution differences, so watch for that on boot screens, but those can be easily fixed.

I saved your stock boot animation. (it was cool). Holler if you need it.

                            I will definitely try...
i have to replace my stock kernal in boot.img & recovery.img of NEOCR ROM or simply replacing kernal in image folder is enough..?

Just replace his kernel with yours. That's all.
