Working Full Speeed USB Ethernetadapter
After trying four different usb-ethernetadapters, I found out that the chinese cheap versions all get stuck at 8 megabit! I now found the perfect adapter and it gives me full speed like a 100mb adapter should.
Check out this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCXvfz41yv8
I bought the adapter mentioned in the video(link can be found in text under video) and shipped it to the Netherlands. It arrived within a week, so pretty fast shipping. I use a MK802IIIs(RK3066) stick and it functions directly without any problems.
I have no connections to the ****-seller, just want to help out.

Same question for you Pancho
Can you do a transfer of a big file and measure the speed or time it how long it takes? By big file I mean a file bigger than 100MB.

I haven't been able to test with other apps, if you have any suggestions let me know. It plays 1080p mkv's without a problem, and that's all I need. When I hook the adapter up to my windowspc it downloads from my NAS with 11,5megabyte per second and uploads with 10.5megabyte per second, so I think the test with ANDSMB isn't the real speed, but i'm not sure.

R: Need suggestion on usb to rj45 ethernet adapter
Hi all
i get an apple 10w power supply (usb charger) and I made a test with the bobjear adapter.
862MB file copied with es explorer, 4.10 min that is 250sec 3.44MB/s mean transfer rate.
At around 20% the speed dropped to 1.5MB/s and remained like that for 20%, then it raised to 5.5MB `till 70%. then it was oscillating around 3.5MB/s
so 3.44 is 27 Mbit/s far less than 100Mbs (80-90 with my laptop, same task)
Again, why is the transfer rate so slow with this device, compared to the adapter+laptop (see some post backward).
with xbmc and samba share with my linux decoder as smb server HD videos are superlaggy, can`t see them..

my 2 cents
I have also been searching for the right USB to RJ45, so far it seems that only ASIX based chipsets
are able to give us near 100 Mbps speeds.
Here is an example:
And here is a forum post where the forum members informs us of speed results from a few brands:
source: http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechfo....php?f=29&t=78
Chipset: AX88772B
Speed: down/up 90Mbps/85Mbps
Forum member "pricer" states that both work to at least 20Mbps down / 10Mbps up
AX88772A
AX88772B
Note: I've been searching for three days and I've noticed that there are a bunch of USB to RJ45 units
that look exactly the same but have diferent chipsets on them. Be very careful before purchasing.

I got this one off **** instead on a whim because it looked like a model from a video of good ones and it works great. That and the model number on the side, although different, seemed close enough to me to be correct:

It is a tough call, so yeah, I should be more careful before I make recommendations as well.

Here's the link that mentions the issue ( check the 1 star reviews)
...These reviews could also be fake, one never knows these days
Btw about the clipping part, its usually because the plastic clicker on the RJ45 is not high enough. You can sometimes force it upwards SLIGHTLY but you risk breaking it. If it clips-on elsewhere then nvm.
