A little oftopic, how you remove the stock heatsink in mk808?, I try to do that and it is impossible for me. Any trick?

A few ways you can do it. You can use the 808 at high clock speeds to heat up and loosen the tape and then power off the unit and use a knife/flathead screwdriver and pry it off, or if you have a heat gun you could use that. I wouldn't recommend the heatgun because everything is so close together you don't wanna pull anything extra off.

Once off let it cool for 5 - 10 minutes and then clean the cpu/nand/memory with rubbing alcohol and a qutip to get the extra gunk off. I wasn't able to clean all of the thermal epoxy off but it was in a spot that didn't need a heatsink anyway.

EDIT: Ill take some pics tonight and show you if you still need help.

I am going to try put a better one, I have some heatsinks here and I want to try them,

Nice. I put a NorthBridge heatsink on my CPU and vram heatsinks on the memory and NAND. As soon as I had that heatsink on that CPU there was no heat at all. I could barely tell it was warm. I even had it set to always clocked at 1.6GHz and I had a hard time telling if it was room temperature or not. Made a huge difference.

photos is coming, factory put the heatsink on CPU, memory, and other place, check the photo

You can remove that, and change to whatever you need.

Put a heatsink on the wireless chip too. it will keep it cool and you might see some improvement with the wifi. I mean i`ve done that with the mk808b and now the wifi signal is much more stable. I learned from a usb wifi that i bought for my laptop that the wireless chip is affected a lot from the heat. The usb wifi used to get hot and had a lot of disconnections from the router but after i used a small heatsink, it wasnt disconnecting anymore.

That has got to be the cheap east heatsink I've ever seen in my life. Christ.

actually, the material for the heatsink is nanometre, i have asked factory today, this material is better the regular ones you see in market, and also it cost more than others.

factory tell us the heat on T428 is not a problem, each device which release from factory will have long time testing, and the temperature is all acceptable.

                            Eric/Geekbuying,

The effectiveness of a heatsink is not based entirely on the material. Sure, the material affects the rate of heat conduction, but what affects the rate of heat dissipation is the surface area. Just sticking a plop of metal on the chip is silly. Why do you think CPU heatsinks have so many bends, curves, fins, etc? It is all solely to increase the rate of heat dissipation. More surface area = faster cooling.

The factory will obviously tell you that it is not a problem. Look at the MK808's heatsink vs this heatsink. Who's trying to cut costs? To the average person who buys your products and doesn't know how to change the heatsink, I'm fairly certain this product will likely have potential heat issues like the first batch of MK808s before the large heatsink was put on.

I'm not personally attacking you or anythng, I just want to make it clear that the factory's words isn't God's words or anything. My point still stands, that is one cheap-ass heatsink. I'll wait out the first batch to let other people be the first adopters for this one. I'm not convinced that the heatsink will do a thorough job.

I can not find any info on your heatsink.
Perhaps they were refering to the thermal paste.
                              Do you have a link?

I did a Google search on it too and all I saw was thermal paste. It really doesn't bother me either way. The 808 had an alright heatsink, and phones don't even have heatsinks. Ill end up replacing whats in there if its a solid slab or individual ones; either way.

I do like that it sounds like thermal paste rather than thermal epoxy though. Much easier to clean off and replace!
