Hey, mine arrived today, two of them. Lovely size, and quite fast. Incredibly fast boot time out of the box.
    Anyway, they're not rooted .. :-(
Online update says they're up to date.
Any idea how to root them?
    Some pics.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.
Do I need to use Phoenix Suite?

I can't even find the product on their website, let alone any information how to root it..
Assuming this is the correct website? - http://www.bee-link.com/index.html

I have a feeling that they are nothing to do with Beelink, even if they are being sold under the name.

Still waiting for mine but from what I have gathered from a friend who has received theirs is that the Zidoo X1 firmware might well work on it and they are producing a rooted version of their firmware on Friday.

On the base of their website, they only have two links for online shopping - Gearbest and Tomptop. I assume they are their "official" portals.
Tomtop doesn't have the X2 on their site at all.
I wonder would gearbest risk selling 'fake' boxes with Beelink brand name?
I know they have got banned and blocked and even their name censored from forums across Europe for their shilling, but would they bother branding a generic box with someone elses brand?

Saying that, It doesn't actually say Beelink anywhere on the box or packaging.
The only reference I've seen to Beelink is on the Gearbest product page.

With it not being on the Beelink site and no branding at all, it would seem that they have.

Geekbuying did also have the Beelink brand named on their site too but have now changed it.

Possibly manufactured in the beelink factory? But for whatever reason they don't put their name to it.

On a completely different note, I was checking the quality of it, and chose a movie to play at random.. Inara, the Jungle Girl.. It's probably the worst acting I've ever seen..
But, if for no other reason, watch it for the fight scene about 18 minutes in. I switched it off after that, so no idea what happens.

I've looked around quite a bit, and still no info about how to root.
Nothing on the Geekbuying link either. (By the way, look what happens when you click "No" to "Was this review helpful to you?" in reviews..

I'm after submitting a request with Gearbest. Hopefully they'll reply with an answer.

                    Hehe

Just the word yes on a blank page.

And loved the comment 'And Geekbuying has the lowest price for this on the internet.'

Gearbest have it for about $35 so either somebody isn't good at maths or the reviews are done in house lol

                      Hello boys ,
I 'm from the X2 factory TRIGTOP. I want to say something about my lovely X2.
Thanks Bluesmanuk starting this topic, and thanks Turvy selecting X2 device, and everybody's advise.
We don't sale device ourself because we specialized field is manufacture. We have many customers, such as beelink.
Why you cannt see any bland label? It is relate with the case. You can see "x2" texture on the top of the device, which cannt be replaced. So if A and B company want to sale X2 device tag their bland, "X2" must be wiped off firstly. But we think "x2' is the highlight scenery of this case, we dont think it is necessary to wipe off "X2".Even though cannt be tied bland ,we still encourage beelink and other bland to sales this no bland device. So, please be ease about the quality and service after sale.
About the Kodi's addons, it is not proper and will be removed.
It had adb shell root right, and we will open the highest root in the next image, about 2 days later and I will provide the download link here.

Like my name TRIGTOP, our factory's mission is pursuing TOP quality products . X2 is the typical one.
The features(Turvy can check it): 1, eMMC ,higher speed and more stability, we had done the compared tests. 2,broadcom wifi chip, the topest wireless chip bland . 3, golden HDMI socket, important for high speed signal. 4, OS-CON capacitor and anti-overvoltage circult and so on.
I use X2 about two months in my livingroom, and it is good.

Welcom every advise and we will try our best to reach it.

NAND are usually higher end, better quality.
eMMC are the low end cheap version.

It would be much better to get a version of Openelec running on this, as opposed to Android.

Has anybody heard if anyone is working on one?
NO. eMMC is an package of nandflash and a controller chip. SSD also is equal to several nandflash and a controller chip. You can search “wear leveling ” .
All mobile phone use MCP which is similar with eMMC.

                          Thanks for he explanation Trigtop.

I look forward to the revised firmware with full root (still waiting for my X2) to be delivered.

Is there any support site for this box that will allow users to keep track of firmware updates and provide direct feedback to the manufacturers?

I'm still a little confused by the branding though.

If the X2 is not a product that Beelink are themselves involved in, why do vendors such as Gearbest market the box under the Beelink name?
Beelink has a good reputation and users (like myself) purchased the device because of that very name because we would then expect to see support direct from them.

This is clearly not the case and would seem to be false marketing.

I also noted that the boot logo was for Mbox, for which I have seen many other devices sold with such a name that tend to be cheaper clones of more established boxes that don't always have the same level of quality.

Well that makes sense, as to why it's marketed pointing out eMMC. I always (mis)understood it to be the other way around.
I left it on streaming TV overnight by accident.
It's still streaming, not even warm..
I have to agree, It is very fast.
I haven't had a chance to check wifi yet as I connected via ethernet.

I got a reply back from Gearbest, and they said the same thing as TrigTop - wait 2 - 3 days.
I look forward to the new update.
