My box was completely black. no boot logo or anything. put recovery files on sd card and it auto detected and rebooted to ENY M8S. that firmware and sd method managed to save me 3 times now.

well i used the EM9 02.03.2015 firmware to bring it back to life and everything did seem to be working fine, including the remote, so i jumped right in and flashed the openELEC firmware and that also came up and seemed to be working nicely - all apart from the remote not seemingly working
then my friend rang me and the only way i could power the box off was to pull the power lead, which i did and i've just plugged it back in and the box is now dead again .. grrrrr
#update
re-loaded the SD card with the EM9 firmware and it's now booting back up again so i'll get that sorted and try openELEC again - at least i've got a working rescue solution now so i can mess around with it a bit more to see if i can get openELEC properly working

hope my stresses have helped out. i always try to write as much as i can about what i've done because i hate it when i'm searching through the web for a solution only to find someone has written "it's ok, i've fixed it" and is never heard from ever again.
i think openELEC is going to be a bust unfortunately because i've discovered that it only appears to work if the SD card is inserted in to the machine. The remote also doesn't work so it's all a bit pointless really. will re-do EM9 then try to flash back to the last version of the stock rom and i'll have to use it like that - no massive hardship i suppose, as long as Kodi works ..

Good to hear you got it working again. Yeah I would not use openELEC until they fix all the bugs. like not being able to turn it back on. I did end up installing new remote file for the remote.so my remote would work. by doing that it actually turned back on the blue light in the front. all buttons work but volume. but once powered off. will not boot back up unless cleared catch. honostly m9 Firmware seems to be the best without problems.

i do actually have the "official" stock rom for this box which i'm going to try in a minute just to see what happens but i think i'd certainly be happy sticking with M9 though - i've got a different launcher i can load that i used to use before i discovered openELEC on my other box so i can use that at least.
i just have to dream up some story to tell the suppliers of the box as to why it's now suddenly working again !!

interesting, just flashed the stock rom and it's said "this package is for 'm8s' devices and this is an 'n200'" .. wonder if it means it's a cloned version ??
