The thing is the box is frozen. It won't get past the google tv screen. So I figured there has to be a way to format it from other than in the settings as I can't access them.

if you cant get past the boot screen then the only way that i know of is to flash again the firmware there is a variety of roms that you can flash to your box

and the only way is with the toothpick method with a micro sd card since you cant get int to android to flash it with the update app.

I have tried the toothpick method ....although I may have done it incorrectly. I grabbed the exact same firmware and put it on a micro SD then engaged the toothpick button. It seems to install 100 percent, but then just hangs there. I've left it for hours. Didn't seem to work.

you put the 3 files to microsd right?
                  param
                  recovery
                  rom
then you press together the power and the reset and didn't release them until you see android flashing the firmware?
If you did all this then you might have to try a different firmware like iysp suggest it i am 95% that if it's a software problem this
is the way to resolve it and it will.
                  Best of luck to you.
Edit: Tells us the exact model, brand, that you have.

I will check as soon as I'm home. The box it came in says mbox. And the model written underneath is S82.i purchased three of them locally and only have the issue with the one. The guy I bought them from won't return my calls or texts.

If toothpick-methode don't work, try to flash new firmware over otg-port.
Download the aml_USB_burning_Tool and some s82/s802/k200-ota-firmware-rom (not TF-/SD-card file) and burn from PC. Then you can use again sd-card method to flash firmware you want.

I'll try this out asap. Any chance of getting a link to the proper firmware? It was build number 112k4. I've also read someone had updated the build ....114k4 I think ??? Not too sure atm. But yeah the original firmware that works with the flasher program you linked me to. Thanks
