I wouldn't waste my time or anyone else's flagging firmware I hadn't myself tested. The question is: on what are you testing this beta? I've installed it on my RKM V5 and MK903 V, with excellent initial results. I can't vouch for how it performs on other devices, but:

On the RKM V5, ethernet speeds on my Comcast 105mbps link average 115 mbps as reported by SpeedTest. Local LAN file transfers average 10-11 mbps for a 500mb file. Wireless LAN (N) at 2.4ghz is limited to an average of 35 mbps. However, on the MK903 V, which offers wireless AC, sustained wifi speeds are around 125 mbps with a 433 mbps connect. Interestingly, the firmware seems to support both the AP6330 and AP6335 chipsets.

In SPMC, the great majority of 1080p streams play with zero skips or frame drops. Video quality and smoothness are uniformly superb. No sound sync or other audio issues.

Yes, not rooted and no Gapps on this beta yet - both will be coming soon, according to Rikomagic.

Before you deprecate this firmware, reflect that, for those of us with either of these devices, our previous options were limited to stutter-ridden Kit-Kat roms, or erratic performance from running Lollipop built for larger RK3288 boxes. This beta firmware rescues us from that, and will soon be mainstream.

Buddy I have the device and tested it's not ready for anyone yet!!!

          On the mk902ii

          Network very buggy.
          Video artifacts
          No google.
Keyboard same buggy software as in kitkat because exact same driver is being used.
          Kernel needs some repairs.

          Regards

And reflect this other boxes are well advanced and released software that is being supported. Take beelink or nagrace for example and see how many bug fixes already done. Doesn't take much to learn from example does it. It's a beta report issues and hope they get resolved. The beta was pretty much the Rk release. So no effort from manufacture. 😆

My test results, using the RKM V5 beta on that device and on the MK903 V, are as reported. No network issues and no video artifacts. Excellent video with SPMC and fast internet browsing in Chrome. My Logitech K400 keyboard and AERB keyboard-airmouse work just fine.

Your experience seems to be based on the MK 902II, which may account for the difference.

Yes, I'm quite aware of what's been accomplished with Lollipop firmware for the Beelink and Nagrace devices, and my comments in no way take away from that. The point is that Wasser's RC2 and those other Lollipop roms don't play well on these dongles. On the MK903V, they randomly crash and USB doesn't always work. On the RKM V5, Wasser comes close, you can admire his handiwork, but in the end he's not aiming at our devices and it shows. That's why, in a thread designated for "Other RK3288 Devices", it's important to take notice of what else is becoming available. I'm quite satisfied that, for my two devices, the Rikomagic V5 beta is currently the best way to go.

Once we get a base kernel that has all the bugs out of it we can swap out and use wasser and moe123 and other roms on these devices (back to my point being Ricomatic needs more interation on this forum it does nothing but benifit them) If the V5 is working well with this release you should be able to swap out kernel and misc and resource and install those onto the v5. mk902ii we need kernel fixes first.

releasing the sdk right from factory shows nothing touched by manufacture and that was my point my freind nothing more.....

You make some interesting suggestions regarding kernel swaps. I did actually swap in the Rikomagic V5 kernel using Wasser RC2 as my base. It crashed..(Perhaps I should have swapped in the boot.img too). Next, on a clean install of Wasser RC 1, I swapped in misc and resource from the V5 beta -- and wifi and usb both became active (previously dead). So yes, there's scope for that kind of thing.

The Rikomagic beta is, as you observe, really a Rockchip beta - evidently derived from a tablet rom, and with little or no value-added from the manufacturer. The fact remains, if you have a V5 or MK903 V, this untreated beta is nonetheless the only viable base for quality video streaming - without it, we'd be condemned to the awfulness of Kit-Kat on RK3288.

By all means, let's encourage Rikomagic to invest in some serious development. I do every time I write them.

It's not a big deal. Use the CrewRKTablets package from here. http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?p=4776

The instructions included are pretty clear. Basically, you install a custom recovery (TWRP) first, then use it to flash a small zip file which you first place on your SD card. Works really well, and the rom becomes quite flexible after that.

wasser port does not shut down and runs too hot to run 24/7. I can't easily plug/unplug it so I'll take my losses.

Agreed. We've all found that, the hard way. The V5 Beta, rooted, is the best compromise for now.

Okay, I flashed TWRP, adb reboot recovery, flash oma root zip, and reboot, but all it does is install reboot app and supersu, not getting root.
