Think we need to clear this up.

There are Gotham builds for Ouya - However, there are also builds based on official XBMC, just with added libstagefright support.

The build I am currently using is 12.3-OUYA and was built 11 August. It's 100% Frodo.
    Currently Using:
2 x Nvidia Shield TV | MiniMX III
    Retired Devices:
    MiniMX III-II | Mk808b Pro | Mk808b Plus | Raspberry Pi 1 + 2 | UBOX R89 | MK808 | MK808b | CS008 | X1 4K (rk3288_809) | CYX_809III | Ouya | CX-919 | S82 Plus | Tronstmart R68

Need a recommendation for my situation -

I am running Finless 1.7 on MK808b and have the custom XAF build. I believe that there is a new 12.2 build (should I upgrade?). I have a 720p TV and do not care about 1080p.

I use the mk808b almost exclusively for XBMC which includes streaming a lot of international TV channels, which is where my dilemma comes in.My wireless connection is good but I could get an ethernet connection via powerlines, if that would make the streaming better.

I have the "External Player Active" issue, when I try playing certain streaming channels. Basically the stream will not go to MX player, despite that being the default option via XAF and kicks me back to the main XBMC menu. Tried many different fixes that I saw on various forums but none seem to offer a working solution.

Can you recommend ROMS and XBMC versions that will make my streaming experience as smooth as possible?

Try the ouya version of XBMC and update your libstagefright.ko

Reading some of the earlier posts, it says that the ouya XBMC has libstagefright support?

I believe this version of Finless' ROM can't connect to WiFi connections that are protected by WEP.By the way, Finless 2.1 is based on Android 4.2.2, which I'm pretty sure is not as stable as 4.1.1 ROMs on the MK808/B devices. I used Finless 2.1 for a short time myself, but ultimately settled with Digitop's ROM which is based on 4.1.1

                  The Wifi soldering needs re-doing.

My observations are Finless 1.7 does a much better job at giving you a good data rate if the ANT and GND are bridged at the cost of signal strength.

                    doesn anyone use snakes rom

                    Hi,

So if I use "12.3-OUYA and was built 11 August. It's 100% Frodo."

                    then update "libstagefright.ko"

This will give me the best setup for XBMC on my mk809ii/b? Or is there a better option,

At moment I have the "snakes ROM on rickomagic" with XBMC, I installed it with latest XAF version of XBMC and it works fine, but the CPU within XBMC stay idle at 100% though stuff seems to still work ok. I am fairly new, did install fineless but didnt seem to work as well.

Is using the OUYA xbmc version and updating the libstage the way to go?

Also are these below roms the best around and will they work on my mk809ii/b?

                    a) MK808/B_digitopMod_v3.5_WALKMAN_Nov2013

                    b) MK808B_digitopMod_MINIX_NEO-G4_port (0730) _Sep2013

I am a little confused, and assume putting either rom a) or b) and then installing OUYA version of XBMC is the best setup, is that right? Will I still need the libstage update

                    Eilz

Just a heads up to some people.

Flumpster's XBMC is by far the best experience you can have. It has all fixes required (no advancedsettings.xml or audio lag fix) so there is no reason to use any other distribution of XBMC.

You will still get roughly the same speed, perhaps a bit better, but like previously mentioned, 1080p on 1080p without an overclock is a no go.

                      Find it here.

I have the Minix XBMC running on Finless 1.7. Is this XBMC better than the minix version?

It's build from the minix version and then tweaked up... it also includes many of the sources already so you won't need to resetup your sources and download the parts you like using.

So I can go ahead and replace minix XBMC with Flumpster's XBMC?

I'd assume you could... can you... lolol.

It isn't going to overwrite your installed XBMC... it uses it's own files/folders. But you can't have both running at the same time as they'd conflict with each other.

May not use the same folder, but probably not worth upgrading to it.

The beauty of the Flumpster releases are you just download the apk, no spoofing, no tweaking required. It will give you full GPU decoding on any rom. If you already have GPU decoding working on that rom with that version, just keep it until a significant upgrade happens, which will probably be a final version of Gotham.
