The support will be crucial, so if they can nail that (Rockchip themselves not withstanding) then it may make the value more attractive.

Having their own dedicated support forum is a good idea too.

I see your point, however, some things should be considered. For instance, Geekbuying as a retailer is not directly tied to other TV boxes. However, Geekbuying as a designer/manufacture/retailer is putting much more on the line in this case. Geekbuying has branded this system with both their name and logo, I think they will put considerable effort in to their user's satisfaction.
As a huge retailer of Rockchip devices, hopefully they will have a little leverage when getting Rockchip to step it up.
Hardware quality appears to be much higher than your average TV box. On the software/firmware side, as the device serves two markets, code development/debug should be more active, for both dev board and TV box users, as each should benefit the other.
When you throw in a dedicated forum for users and dedicated accessories, this device simply offers more than most. It has great potential and based on the above, I am hopeful it will be realized.

The price as a TV box puts it in approximately the same range as other "premium" 3368 boxes(Zidoo, Nagrace, etc).
Would I like to see it cheaper? Yes, but then I wish they were giving them away.
I'm hoping for a future Geekbox and Landingship bundle deal.

Like most devices, time will tell if this device's potential is realized. I believe it has a much better shot than most.
