Mate your first method worked i had it pluged into the front of the pc changed to the back now the box is up and running !!

Humm don't remember how I rooted mine back in the day, I don't use root anymore.. Try kingroot apk and see if it works.

Ignore last message haha flashed a custom rom now everything is working perfect

Virtualitzation works like hell to upgrade firmware on these boxes. I updated several models via a windows virtualbox hosted on a linux machine. You just have to make sure extras are installed and realize that when upgrading the box reboots 2 or 3 times and the USB device must be added again to the virtualized windows after every reboot. It works like a charm.

Never had success with Parallels, didn't really try with VMware or others.

MakinaCore1 'That rom is for an M8 not an MXQ. Are you sure you have linked the correct rom in your post??? I have the same S805 MXQ V03 as you. I also cant seem to find a working openelec for this board. All the openelecs ive found just brick it, with only recovery via USB burning tool.

If you read the comments you will see people asking if it works on the mxq and they were told yes thats why i used it

I read the comments (Twice). No mention of MXQ.. They only mention M8 and someone asks about compatibility with M8S. As these arnt S805 chip (which is in MXQ), I dont think it will work. Where did you read "compatible with MXQ" as I cant see it on that thread at http://mbox.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=162 which you posted.
