    EDITOK, I flashed it
Somehow I think the screen is flickering.
Is there an easy way to flash back stock firmware? Then I can
check this issue with stock FW again.

EDIT: or maybe I am just tired and my mind is playing tricks on me

EDIT2: I was seeing things Anyway, everthing works good, so far Thanks a lot!
Antutu is giving me same result as on both stock firmwares: ~16K . Wondering why guys have different scores...

Regarding the flickering issue: I was not crazy, after all
This is the thing: After flashing, automatic boot into CWM: screen flickers.
After booting into system, screen is still flickering, but disapearing more and more. After one further
reboot and ~10 minutes all the flickering is gone. Animations look a little bit like missing deinterlace when watching a DVD or something I thought it was just my eyes, coming from work after 10 hours in front of a linux console
I was able to reproduce it this morning.
Nevertheless, everything works good. I am using Antuntu Overclock tool right now, changed CPU Governor to "ondemand", because "interactive" almost never clocks the cpu to 1.6Ghz. I got the feeling, the system runs smoother with ondemand.

Baisically it is like that: Flash FW, CWM flickering badly. Starting system, even boot animation flickering. When it is started, less flickering. But all this is gone after 1-2 reboots and approx. 10 min. I know it sounds weird, but I reproduced it this Morning

hm, really strange. it looks like it needs to get working temperature! i do not know do i laugh or kry? so, now this need to be verified from at least one user more to see is problem with that specific defice or custom rom. or you take back standard rom and see what's happening.

this is little bit cool down for my purchase. i already put money "on side" for m8pro, but....

hope you'll give us some more infos in nex days about that.

              thanks man!

                Hey vikidroid,

It is working good since flickering disappeared. Even reboots are OK, this issue happens only immediately after flashing and disappears then. I will have this in mind and post if flickering ever comes back.
One thing that I am interested a lot it CPU Governor. Would like to here from other guys how their tablets are running with governor set to "onthemand" not "interactive"(default).

One other thing: Vikidroid, you are from Croatia? I am from Serbia, actually Living in Germany right now

about flickering - it is very strange. i repaeat - like it needs to warm up. there are no some special drivers or something similar. must try to find some more reviews.

little bit privatisation, just now, i promise! ;-)

I noticed the flickering more on the first version of the 4.2.2 ROM, but as dcr33p said, it went away after a while. There must be something wrong in the kernel that is adjusting the voltage on the display.

The later firmware's seem to decrease this a little, but you guys are pretty sharp to notice it. Hopefully the next update can fix it...they seem to be working on a solution...testing anyway.

I'm watching closely for a release. They just put out an M9 update, today...so I'm downloading it.

Otherwise, are you happy with everything else?

                      Hi,

I have to be short, at "work" right now ...
@Vikidroid: Probacu da vratim nazad kada sledeci put pravim "upgrade", sve sam namestio vec :-)
OK, English only from now on, again!

                      @Randy:
Nice, now I am 100% sure that I am not crazy There is some other issue, in fact. BUT it is also appearing on both stock roms. Following problem: The Home "button" is a little messy. The right side of the house is flickering a little bit. Only in landscape mode, in portrait it is OK. I figured out that this ist definitely not a HW issue on my device. Also, when CPU is running at 1.6Ghz it disappears, coming back again when CPU is going idle. Barely noticeable, but if you know itis there, it is just there
Everything implies, that there is indeed something wrong with PIPOs FW IMHO. But, it is not a big thing atm...

                      Greetings,
                      Dusko

EDIT: Randy, your ROM works great. It is a clean bloat-free install. No problems with play store so far, performance is the same as stock IMHO. You did not change anything performance-wise? I am confused why people are writing they got better benchmarks. Why should they? :-)
it is still laggy sometimes, but as I wrote, chaning CPU governor to "onthemand" results in quicker responses on my RK3188 device.

didn't find any discussions about flickering on other forums. but, just popped on my mind - does it happen when is connected to charger also? this is long shot, but...

funny, I thought of that 1 min ago and just checked it, it is not related to charger/usb cable/whatever plugged in. I dont know, just waiting for new stuff from PIPO. I've just read the M9 thread where Randy wrote today that he suspects some serious faults with latest FW, cause PIPO released a new FW today. Only a few days after the last firmware....M9 user will report, I guess I would also bet my money that new M8 Pro firmware will be released in the next few days.

Did I understand correctly, that you want to buy a M8 Pro, but have not decided, yet?

i tough just for charger. other cables, devices shouldn't make interferences.

about firmwares - all what i do NOT like with pipo is that they have two different versions. or, they just name them differently just because one is default chinese and second(other) is english. as far i found many docs, pdfs with tutorials, informations are chinese, no mather they are named "english.doc" or something like that.

yes, i want some cheaper tablet that my family can do few apps with that and no much trouble with it.
my first pick was s2 or m2, then i found about m9. after that i found m8, which is exactly what i want - enoughh big but not too much big that is is trouble to carry it arround. AND then they announced m8pro. well, THAT is what i want to buy. as i will order it from china, there is enough time to find some issues or advantages about tablet. but, as much i read your posts... i'm gettin' worried more and more.

i have few another tablets just for my usage, and they aren't for "general population" ;-). so, that is main reason for purchasing pipo. of course there are may chinese generic tablets, but pipo has great number of users and customizers. so, that is why i'm interested in m8.
for example, m9 which is also good model, like m2, here in croatia is priced about 450$.
that is exactly price of two m9's from china with customs fee included. i know that is way off-topic, but, just for information.

                              Re: Pipo M8 Pro 4.2.2 RileyROM 1.4

Yes, I just got done updating my M9 ROM I just put out yesterday with a new one today. So tomorrow as my luck would have it Pipo will put out a new M8pro ROM.

The way I look at it is that Pipo really wants to polish these two tablets for worldwide success. That's why they are putting the work into them. Each ROM seems to be a little better. Why they bother to put out two versions isn't clear...but I like the English versions because I don't have to remove so many Chinese apps. I hope they will go back and update the other M series tablets to 4.2.2 as well. I have an M5 that needs a little attention.

I would caution against buying a 3G version in the US or Canada. The Chinese 3G radios aren't compatible with the US carriers frequencies. My M5 is a 3G version and I can't connect to AT&T with it. The tablet works great otherwise....but the extra expense isn't worth it.

Pipo released an update today for this tablet, and I've just finished cooking my 1.5 version.

I haven't added any new features, but I want to play some more with this one.

Does anyone want to test Gameloft fixes?
Does anyone want to test VPN drivers?

Is there anything else that this ROM is missing that anyone wants?

Watch for the new thread for version 1.5
