    Pipo M9 Max 4.2.2 RileyROM 1.4

Pipo, today, released a new update to the M9 Max 4.2.2 firmware. This time, they left out all of the bloatware they have been including in their systems.

This ROM is rooted, with a working CWM Recovery, init.d support, Busybox links provided, Google Play Store fixes and either 2, 4, 6 or 8gb user app space (depending on which parameter file you choose to flash).

I have seen plenty of people look around at the Pipo ROM's here, but there are very few comments. Don't be bashful...I appreciate feedback.

Here is the link to the download page:

OK, I found a temporary solution until I can sort this out some more.

The problem is in the boot.img. I had trouble extracting this file, since it is in a different format as the previous versions. That should have been a red flag for me in the first place. I'll have to dig around some more with it.

If you have my v1.3a ROM, copy the boot.img from it into the v1.4 ROM and flash it. It boots all the way on my M8Pro...but that's as far as I get because the wifi drivers are different on the two tablets, so I can't use my wifi on the M8 with the M9 ROM.

If the M9 and M8 are similar...you have to press and hold the esc button for 5 seconds, stick a paperclip in the reset hole and press and hold for 5 seconds then press and hold the power button until you see the tablet in boot loader mode on your PC. Then let go of the esc button, then let go of the reset button. You will have to hold the power button the whole time you are flashing, or the loader will turn off (at least that's what I have to do on my M8). Uncheck everything but boot.img in the loader screen and just flash boot.img. (that will be quicker).

I'll post an update as soon as I troubleshoot the boot.img some more.

There are two versions of this ROM on their site the one I used was the 3G version. I'll download the other one and see if the boot.img on it is any better.

The new kit is now uploaded. Just download from the same link above.

I took the boot.img from the non-3g firmware and applied it to this ROM. If you already have this ROM flashed, just flash the boot.img only. Otherwise, flash the whole thing after erasing IDB.

It booted completely for me on my M8Pro. Again, I don't get wifi with this ROM on my tablet, so please report any further issues while testing. There was one error I got that said calendar quit working, but I click OK and it doesn't return. It maybe an issue with not being able to connect to the server.

Please let me know if there are any other issues...I'm happy to help.

I'm watching the Pipo site daily for further updates on all of the tablets I've created ROM's for, so when there is a release, I'll go to work on a new ROM. Keep in mind, I have no idea what they are fixing, because change logs are in Chinese (if there even IS a change log). I'm certainly not multi-lingual, sorry.

Thanks Randy! I have the no-3G version so my guess is your new version will work. I installed someone else's rom last night so I'll try to make a cwm backup of it then try yours.

              Thanks. Just keep me posted.

If the other ROM has something cool that mine doesn't let me know. Once we get a good stable firmware to work with, we can start adding bells and whistles.

I haven't had many requests, yet for additional features.

Is it possible for you to make the entire rom from the official no-3G firmware?

I'm not sure if I want to switch to a rom that isn't made for my version.

                    Non 3G version

The first ROM I released in v1.4 was based on the 3G version of the firmware.

By request, I have done a ROM using the Non-3G firmware as the base. Just follow the same link to the download page in post #1.

                      Thanks Randy!

Everything seems to work except I get error 491 when I try to update/install any apps in the play store. I removed my google acount, wiped cache, wiped davlik cache but that didn't help. Any idea what's up?

I can't think of anything, except that I might have removed something I shouldn't have.

It's late here, I'll have to look at it in the morning.

Did the same thing happen on both ROM's? Did you try the 3G version?

When I go to my account under settings it says Sync error, Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.
