I found this strange because In my mind, Vidon is just an Andiord app, I should be able to uninstall it and install a native Kodi.

Yes,you can ,however, like you said the native kodi is not working well on S905, and vidon/Tronsmart did some improvement in their pre-installed vidon xbmc, and you will get life-time vidon xbmc pro if you get vega s95. also vidon is working on the new update to vidon xbmc 15.1 base on kodi 15.2, they will always update. i don't see any reason to uninstall it

I am concerned that Vidon is slow to bring out updates. Kodi 15.2 came out more than 2 months ago and Vidon is still working on it.
I am new to Kodi and while I looked for instructions to install addons, there were many insturctions online and I was concerned if they were OK for Vidon. There are many online forums for help for Kodi, not much for Vidon.

Yes, so far so good bit I still prefer native Kodi. In my opinion, Tronsmart firmware should be designed to work on Native Kodi, then on Vidon.
I sent an email to Vidon suppers about Vega S95. Their reply was they do not support Trosnmart boxes. I then sent them a link that Vega S95 is shipped with Vidon. They replied and asked me to refer my questions to their Vidon forum. As you can see, I am not impressed with their support. I am have this email chain.

As you can see from the text below from Vidon's email, there was little room for misunderstanding here:
"Sorry to say that we don't support running Vidon XBMC on Tronsmart box (Vega S95 Telos).
Please visit http://vidon.me/vidon_membership.htm to check VidOn XBMC Pro Supported Chipset and Box."
I went to the site and under the supported devices, there was no list, all it said was "More devices will be officially supported...".
This is kind of Mickey Mouse for a tech company. Not sure if I can count on them for support. On the other hand, there are many online sites or forums that can help for regular Kodi.
As I said, I am just started to learn about Kodi and this S95 is my 1st box. So, I don't know exactly the added values of Vidon over Kodi. Many of my friends are using Kodi and they are OK with it. Let's say Kodi issues a hot fix for a new issue, i cannot use it right away, I will have to wait for Vidon.

Yes, I meant the misunderstanding was theirs. I was not criticizing you.
VidOn Pro offers some features like Dolby TrueHD and Blu-ray navigation. The Pro version is free on the S95. They definitely list the S905 in their supported chipsets, they also list Tronsmart as a partner. All can be seen here.
You can load stock Kodi on to the S95, but you will lose the Dolby TrueHD and other features. They can be installed simultaneously. Kodi is narrowing their list of supported devices, this maybe a factor in Tronsmart going with VidOn, I don't think they are alone in that regard.
Anyway, welcome to the TV box club.
Good day.

Yes, I did see that the new S905 SOC is listed as supported chipset. I asked for the Vega S95 device specifically. Maybe the one who respecded to my email was not well versed with the new products. So far, Vidon is working fine for me. However, I do not know Kodi well enough to try different features.
As for the box, it is running with the original launch version of the OS. Can't wait for updated version. I read that we should expect some performance improvement with new OS updates.

I am a relative noob on Kodi/XBMC, as such, I don't take advantage of all of its capabilities and features. Learning as I go. I have seen little difference in using Kodi and VidOn XBMC, from an operational point of view.

I myself don't care for 3D. I bought a 3D smart TV 2 years ago because to get a good TV (picture quality), I had to get 3D and all kinds of connectivity.
While watching Kodi (Vidon), I notice that many of the 720p videos freeze often to render them unwatchable. I read this up online and many people suggested to upgrade from Kodi 14.2 to 15.2. I cannot because of Vidon and I will have to wait for Vidon updates.
