I'd go for an S905 dual booting Android/LibreElec. I wouldn't class any Rockchip/Amlogic beefy, I also wouldn't use Android Kodi. LibreElec on the S905 is considerably quicker then any Pi and has more codec/resolution support.
Nothing touches the Shield, although we will get to a point where boxes will have better CPU performance it will be a very long time before they get anywhere near that GPU. It also has the best Android Kodi support if you didn't want to use Open/LibreElec and is a vastly better Android machine then any Rockchip/Amlogic.Currently Using:
2 x Nvidia Shield TV | MiniMX III
Retired Devices:
MiniMX III-II | Mk808b Pro | Mk808b Plus | Raspberry Pi 1 + 2 | UBOX R89 | MK808 | MK808b | CS008 | X1 4K (rk3288_809) | CYX_809III | Ouya | CX-919 | S82 Plus | Tronstmart R68

They are dropping specific support for AMLogic though from 17.
Even if they drop it, then what the AMLogic android box users will do? Whether they'll shift to some other similar Kodi alternatives or Kodi based forks?

It doesn't mean that Kodi won't work with AML boxes but there is less of a guarantee that it may work as well across the board.
There is a fork called SPMC that talks of AML getting some love.
Time will tell.
R-TV BOX S10, Beebox N3150, Chuwi Hibox, Nvidia Shield, A95X Max
