If the prices that I have seen are anything to go by, the escalator will be the down one.
Specs wise, it offers nothing that the much cheaper boxes don't and with Tronsmart's legendary poor support, I can see no reason for anybody to even think about buying one.
Unless they are a glutton for punishment or masochist that is.

Even at $80, it is still way above the price levels of the competition and doesn't seem to offer anything extra that would make it realistically worth considering.
There is specific mention of reduced gigabit media-independent interface (RGMII) but whether this results in any performance increase or it just being a marketing exercise I don't know, especially considering that RGMII is not a new thing.
The mention of the Qualcomm-Atheros-QCA9377 might have some interest as it is WiFi AC wave 2 (2.0) the latest AC standard although unless you have a router that supports Wave 2 (which the vast majority don't) then it will have limited appeal. As somebody who does have a Wave 2 router and compatible WiFi USB stick, it does give you improved AC performance but not as much as you might hope because if the transmitter only has one antenna (which most Android TV boxes do) then even with the right router, it's not going to blow your socks off.
I just can't see a reason for parting with the extra $20 or so for something that's not really selling itself specs wise.
Couple that with one of the poorest support structures for a known brand and right now it doesn't float my boat at all.

I just saw Geekbuying is selling this S96 box for $65US.
I found this strange. Geekbuying has been selling the Tronsmart S96 for weeks but:
1. Not one single review, user or expert,
2. No official announcement from Tronsmart
3. The new boxes (S95X, S96) are not listed in Tronsmart.com.
4. There is no specific dedicated section in Tronsmart forum for the new boxes.
Did they release the new boxes or not? Or just pre-sales orders?
