First switch on we have Android 6.1 Basic launcher with minimal apps.
I see over at the Khadas Vim site there is talk of a fan and new top section and also remote soon

This Unit will be more of a tool that just a another media player, the more people add and tweak it will always be an ongoing review.

You can Install LibreELEC ROM on VIM, and here is a install guidance.
Ubuntu ROM will release very soon, and here we publish a step by step porting instructions about how to build Ubuntu from scratch.Comment

One more information: Khadas VIM support timer power on/off, check Settings-->Timer for further info.
And also support power on/off via remote controller.Comment

Updated to the Firmware with Root all nice easy
Just had to sort the reset from the power button nice and easy no problem.

Clean looking unit, with a lot of potential. Whenever I get mine - (China-Netherlands-USA shipping, thanks Gearbest!) - among other things, I'll compare Android performance with that of my Mi Box, although the latter runs ATV, not AOSP.

What are the benefits of Android tv compared to other Android stb that come as google tv, aosp or something third?
I have been looking at xiaomi, but lack of sd card slot, ethernet and only 8gb rom pushed me away from it?Comment
