Thats great! JK, some of these boxes work perfectly others do not but that is probably software related. Also the Shield is at least 3 times as expensive. That is for the inexpensive model. If you want the good one you have to pay 299.99 for it making it 4 and a half times as expensive. Not worth it just for kodi. However it is better for gaming but for that price you might as well just buy an xbox one s or a play station 4.

the S912 boxes have shitty official firmware. I know because I have one (the X-Player). Re-flash it with an updated or custom firmware and things start to magically work again, at least they did for me.

From what I'm hearing, no official version of Kodi 17 is going to give you DTS without a firmware upgrade of your device. Do you know how to sideload applications? Have you tried the shitty build yet - http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/a...rmeabi-v7a.apk? (and there are probably newer builds since this one, but its stable)

That is a Krypton build that has the old PCM hack that allows DTS to work in 16.1. I have this loaded on my X-Player and I have flawless DTS playback.

HD digital audio isn't in Marshmellow (its only in Nougat) so unless you get a custom Marshmellow firmware with backported Nougat audio API you won't get it.

Use one of the 'shitty' or 'notsoshitty' Kodi 17 apps in the Kodi forums' Passthrough thread to see if pass-through works.

                Hi
I know this is an old thread but I have installed shitty and it works great for DTS but Dolby Digital has the problem that DTS had. I can't find anything but DTs mentioned online.tho. any ideas?

                  See how this does

I have DTS and Dolby Digital running fine on my S912 with this but firmware can play a big part in the success or failure too.

Thanks for that. No luck tho, it wouldn't even install on my s812.

Do other people have Dolby digital working on shitty Kodi 17 ?

You may have to uninstall a previous version in order for it to install.

May also be worth posting the question on the Kodi forums, where the devs that create these shitty builds are made.

Thanks a lot. Yep an uninstall worked. Although DD still didn't work!
Ended up trying spmc and it's worked brilliantly (touch wood). Tried v16 first and that was great but obviously based on Jarvis. Then tried a 17.4 build with iec passthru and again working great.
