leolas i was thinking is there a way to reset the usb chip controller. i was searching on the internet and i found some programs that flash the controller of the usb flash drives if they become corrupted. i was thinking maybe there is a program that can reset the usb chip controller of the t428. when i plug the device on my computer the pid and vid of the device are 0000 i guess thats the problem with the device. but i dont know where to look for that. the controller for the usb is Active 8846qm. i search on the web for it but luck doesnt seem to be on my side

One more thing about geekbuying or tronsmart. they should provide a usb otg cable for the t428 not just a simple usb to micro usb cable. maybe a cable like this one in the link. hope this helps someone http://www.****.com/itm/Micro-USB-Ho...item1e7d2fc1f1

              WI-FI antenna mod

              Heya cool mod..
Could you do a WI-FI Antenna mod on the t428 and post?
I get crappy Wi-Fi reception with it.

Was thinking a nice breakout antenna connector to the case (?Don't want to increase the foodprint of the device at the moment. That way, if I wanted to use an external , I could attach antenna (Small wi-fi anenna style connector) as an option.

              Cheers

guys i need to reprogram the usb chip controller. i know it can be done like reprograming the chip on the usb drives but i need some help. as a user stated the usb controller chip is active 8846qm but there is not a single one web page that gives some explaining about this chip. i hope someone from geekbuying can reply here because they dont give a damn on their page with the support. i wrote them that i have a t428 and they reply to me:
                  Hi sir,

About the mk808b problem, you said it stay at the google tv. i asked you flash it, flash is the only way to fix it.
It's strange that you say it can't be recognized by your computer, there must be something wrong with the cable or the connector. Pls figure it out and have it flashed pls.

You will figure it out, sir
If you can't make it work after flash it, pls feel free to come back to to get another way to solve

well thx but i have the t428, and i cant flash it, so if i cant flash it i cant come back to get another way to solve it.

The only thing that I hate with cheap chinese products is the lack of support. Even if there's a support line, they are either not available, completely unprofessional, do not understand the question, or try to blame you.

You cannot "reprogram" the USB controller. It is a hardwired thing, and while it indeed uses input from the Android system for VID/PID, etc., if it's broken, it's gone.

The chip is completely unknown to me too, I tried to search and the closest I got was a chinese e-mall selling shoes. Nothing else popped up.

im planing to buy another stick from geekbuying maybe the mk908, they shipped it very fast and it arrived in 5 days as stated and it was all great, but they need to improve their support cause it really sucks.

Act8846qm is not the usb controller. Is the pmu (power management unit).

Saw once where someone was plugging into the power port rather than OTG port. That will cause issues obviously. But anyway I was wondering if you've opened it and seen that the plug is still securely soldered to the board? Those things are weak as hell.

The same must be, I see it in every board picture I see, look for ACT8846QM chip in the board. It controls various voltages, lda_6 is for wifi chip in my device.
