kodi crashes black screen and i noticed the sound setting brings up dolby as being unsupported, tho reviews i had seen listed it as dolby ready

renamed the extracted file inside the zip to AndroidTool_Release_v2.52.tar and extracted

well, progress now used pair tweezers to short pins A+B while plugging in USB ( half plugged in to make it easier to slip in later ) followed by power then removing tweezers short using AndroidTool_Release_v2.52 to reflash and now seem to have a working OS again :P


I have a feeling that big bit of metal they have floating around (part of wifi ?) is causing a short making these brick ...

I used to run vantec iceberq 4 pro on my mainboards might see if they will fit these chips , also looks like peeling back the sticker could gain air flow acess to the chipset as well more so amazed they have a fan header but could not be bothered installing a $3 fan for us

the headers are 3.3v so going to use 5v USB fan adaptor
put some heat-shrink tubing over wifi metal part so it does not short stuff out again, moved screw that was drilled through pcb into its correct hole
hot snoted in an old Asus cross flow fan

I'v X99 and tested H96 too

Both Boxes Type-C ports works fine with cheap&expensive Adapters!

BUT my first tried Adapter(as we can say a little pricey) do not work with X99 and H96 too so seems that this Adapter faulty!

Tried cheaper one with X99 and H96 both works fine

Tried expensive one than two Boxes were fine

So I do not need any "trimming"

So today I got the new adapter...And...At first it would not work....It kept wanting to pop out of the socket like the cheaper one had. So I took a knife and carefully trimmed some of the plastic away so more of the metal C-Connector was exposed. I put it back in the C-Port of the H96 and stuck a thumb drive in the adapter. BANG!!! Working...Tried my keyboard/mouse dongle...Working with the C-port adapter.
So the problem was that these adapters are not leaving enough of the actual connector exposed to insert into the H96Max C-Port to make a connection....
Then I decided to take the cheap adapter I had gotten my money back on...I trimmed it's plastic surrounding like I had done on the other adapter. Stuck it in the H96Max C-Port and BANG! the cheap adapter is now also working. So it seems that just about any of these adapters will work but it looks like the problem is that they are not able to insert themselves into the H96Max C-Port sufficiently. But if you carefully trim the plastic to expose more of the connector that will allow the connector to insert far enough and also make it stay in securely. So for anybody who gets one of these C-Port adapters and if it doesn't work and wants to pop out try trimming some of the plastic away to expose more of the connector and then try again.

motox22a thank you for your respond, yesterday i flashed 20180502 firmware, i think its better than old one. i had Dec 17 build... I'll test it a couple of days and i tell you how it goes. Anyone knows if the new 180713 firmware is stable?

Hopefully it will work ok for you and hopefully you don't have another problem. I use my H96 Max connected to a Guest Account on 5Ghz (Netgear Router) restricting the H96 to Internet only. The router is very close to the H96 Max so I have good speed and no disconnects. If the 5/2/2018 firmware works good for you I would not worry about updating for now as the firmware is only 3 months old and is a known good version.

I use Type-C port for my 64Gb(Samsung USB3.0 type) Flash-memory(for my Photos purposes)

I use HUB(3.0) and connected 4xFlash Memory(64/128/32/16 Gb) seems no problem but when I connected my 1Tb ext.HDD
than turned off!(sometime HUB sometimes Box)

So dont trust your Type-C port

Yeah there's plenty on Eb@y but finding the right one is the problem. But if I can find one cheap that works then I can post it here so everybody knows...
That "Trust" one looks like a quality one but looks like they are primarily sold in Europe (I'm in the U.S.). I have no previous experience with USB-C
and I found out that from the one I purchased on Eb@y and from your experience as well that not all of them will work. I'm looking. I just want to
use the C-port to plug other normal USB devices in. I see there's also some C -port to USB hubs being sold and I'm looking at those. The problem is some
of the Eb@y sellers are very difficult to get your money back if it doesn't work. I already have my 2 regular USB ports used on the H96Max. But I'd rather not use
a Hub as that just adds more wires and takes more space and really I just need to use the one extra port.

so i have unbricked my box but i see some errors in the log maybe i should eraseflash first then upgrade firmware or everything went well ?

Hello, i have this tv box 2 weeks but i have some problems and i want to know if someone had the same and solved.

1. My apps sometimes stop responding and i need to unplug for restart. Bugs i think.
2. The biggest problem is that sometimes restarts wifi (so i loose my connection) and the same time the audio stops. after it reconnect but i dont have sound. I need to restart the device.
Its like restarting the hardware on wifi and audio.

I have done 3 times factory resets but nothing, i have a big fan (no usb, it has own power) so no heating problem, max 60C on games and i have adapter 5V 3A.
It has 7.1.2 android but i dont know how to see the firmware.

I don't have any of the problems you are experiencing on your H96Max (I have the 4Gb model RK3399). The firmware version I am using is 5/2/2018 downloaded from Geekbuying.com.
If you are not using that version you could try downloading and flashing that version. Your problem of losing Wifi and Audio at the same time sounds like a hardware issue. Since you are using a fan then we know it's not a heat issue. The first thing I would try is flashing the 5/2/2018 firmware. That way you know you have fresh files and drivers that are known good. Then if the problem persists it "may" be a hardware problem with the box. You could also try switching back to the stock power supply or a different one to rule that out as well.
