Rikomagic MK22 Plus issue update firmware with USB burning tool

So, holding the reset button in, you plug in the power and hold in the reset button for around 3 seconds.

On the screen you would see an updating prompt with a form of Android logo, which may be green (or white in my case) and a progress bar.

After a few minutes, if you selected the option to reboot in the card maker, the box will reboot and in a few minutes will setup Android.

I don't know what will happen for sure if you hold it in for less or more than the required time as I've never had an issue.

I was able to update the firmware. only thing was i never saw anything on the screen but just in case it was doing something i left it on , walked away for 5 to 7 minutes (roughly ) and it booted into the main menu and was upgraded. maybe i missed the android logo as it upgraded. i held the reset about 10
seconds only as nothing was on the screen. screen has same image as when the player is off. i have one more MK22 Plus on another TV I will probably update soon also. thanks

thanks now i may have a possible different issue. so I have two MK22 Plus , one connected to Samsung LCD TV 1080p (one I upgraded) and the other on a Samsung Plasma 720p. either player worked on either TV
one reason for the firmware update Rikomagic supposedly fixed a random
green screen issue I was getting only on the LCD and with either player

so the issue the one i upgraded I plug it into the Samsung 720p Tv there is no picture (player i was using on 720 have not updated)

I plug it back into the Lcd 1080 I have a picture. tried changing setting to 720 on updated one and put back on the plasma still no picture. so i'll have to email Rikomagic. any thoughts. ? i won't update the other player until i get this sorted out

First thing i would do is plug in the updated box into the same HDMI port and using the same HDMI cable as the one that works.

At least that then rules out port or cable as an issue and points squarely to some form of issue with firmware and TV compatibility, which Rikomagic can be informed of.

What happens if you set the display resolution even lower than 720p and then hook it up and does the display settings in Android have an option to turn on auto detect for resolution?

hdmi ports are good as both players worked prior on both tvs
the 720 tv non updated played is set at 1080i 60hz
Ycbcr444 8bit. 1080 tv updated player set for 1080p 60 hz YcbCr444 10
bit. i'll try setting the updated player to the exact settings as the non updated one and see if i get a picture

10 bit sounds like a possible issue.

Most TV's still have 8 bit panels, so can't natively show a 10 bit source.

ok putting the updates player on the 720
tv set to 8 bit now i have a picture

regarding the one i updated i did not see the android or updating message saw no picture during the holding the reset button as i said i then walked away for maybe 8 mn and it was done updating should i be concerned about updating the other one ?

No.

One worked, therefore so will the other.

Try the update on the second box on the other TV and see if you get the upgrading screen.

on the other hand isn't there a chance if i update the other box on the old tv (720( the box may default to 10 bit and if so i may not have a picture ? thinking of using the same tv based on this

It doesn't matter.

if it doesn't show anything then just reflash again on the TV that you have used.

ok i updated the 2nd one same tv watched it no image for about 4 minutes then boot screen about 2 mn and success. thanks

All working now. A friend has the same player I may help him at some point if he has issues and wants to update. probably will just wait and see if he has any issues. Thanks for all the help. was just a bit nervous in case if a firmware failure also because a contact with Rikomagic said the SD method couldn't be done. i'm guessing either they were not technical enough to know or they don't have a process for customers. sorry to be so long winded in my blogs. Go back to Rikomagic and ask them why they don't know their product as well as a few amateur enthusiasts do.

I'd love to hear their answer.
