Solve this Mystery!! Google Play Music goes silent

    Hello guys,

I am trying All Access at the moment. On my desktop and phone it is fine, but on my Android TV device I have a serious issue: It plays one track then all the following songs are all completely silent. Even if I click on another track from a different album, or close and open the app, it is still silent. The only way round it is to kill the process and load the app again to play the next track! This happens regardless of whether I play an album or playlist or radio.

If I click on the next song button just before the current song ends, play continues. It only gets this "silent bug" when it is meant to be playing the next track automatically.

    Other insights:

    - it does not have a problem with mp3 files that are locally on my device

    - it does have a problem with tracks added to My Library from All Access... when the track ends and it is about to play the next track, an error message pops up saying it cannot play this stream at the moment. If I cancel the error and just click on the next track, it plays fine.

This seems to show there is something wrong with the moment one track finishes and info needs to pass from device to google to say "play next".

But why only on this device???

    Help/suggestions please!

    Google Music All Access issues!

I have the same problem on my MK808B and MK908. I have tried multiple roms on both. I can't seem to figure out what is causing the issue.

Any help fixing this issue would be great!

Ok... well bummer for you, but it's a bit of a relief for me, at least knowing it's not only my device...

Did you ever try Play Music on the stock rom? I didn't... I am tempted, at least next time I flash an updated rom, to first go to stock, and install ONLY Play Music, and see if that works.

I wonder if there is some sort of writing to cache or some Read/Write activity that is being blocked or something... particularly odd that the playback counter keeps going, as if it was playing the song properly.

It would be good if one of the boffins like lewy20041 or leolas chimed in here, I don't know enough technically to be able to figure this one out.

I never tried it with the stock rom. I flashed the finless rom right away. If I get some time I can try flashing the stock rom or maybe someone else can answer the question regarding the stock rom working or not.

It is weird that it thinks it's still playing but there is no sound. I tried all kinds of different combinations of settings in the app.. I've tried using a usb ethernet adapter and wireless. I have been successful in playing two or three songs in a row then it goes silent.

Anyone else have the same issue?

I tried the stock ROM on my MK908 over the weekend still had the same issue. I can't imagine we are the only people with this issue. My friend has the same issue on his MK908.

Anyone reading this thread?!?!?! Please confirm Google Music is working for them?

I'm guessing it will/could be sorted with firmware, but there aren't a lot of developers who have play music all access on their cs918 /similar, so it's not getting any attention sadly :-(
But a big disappointment for me... Going to have to stay with spotify.

Same problem here. It only emerged in 1.20 firmware, before that it worked perfectly. Would that make a difference? I also emailed Google support about it.

Re: Solve this Mystery!! Google Play Music goes silent

Very odd, it has not worked at all for me, but perhaps it worked on your earlier roms because you happened to play music which you had uploaded, which works properly vs music that is from radio or all access which does not.

Na was definitely using all access, was specifically experimenting with it. One thing I noticed when it stopped working was that I had just had to delete some devices from my authorised devices list. Maybe that triggered something?

Anyone tried accessing Music through their browser actually? Could be a good workaround until we have a fix. I'm in work now but will try later when I get home

Tried playing it in the browers, that doesn't work.
What I do as a work around is installed cheapcast on the play store

and utilized the chromecast feature that allows me to control the music app from my cell phone and "cast" it to my stick. It works great but I can't do anything else while the stick is in Chromecast mode.
