Try to install Netflix and check the quality of the picture. Try also to install XBMC and get it to play HD movies with the internal XBMC player - which crashes XBMC after a short time.

I just received the K-R42 today and what a difference! Everything works after installing the custom ROM found at this forum - Netflix picture quality is fine, XBMC just works etc etc. Also just browsing through the installed apps is a joy, a completely different experience than with the MeLE A1000G box.

hulu plus works great which wont work on cs918/k-r42(lewy custom firmware) and the sound is better than my cs918. Video quality is better than rk3188 sticks and that's most important for me. Latest update was supposed to fix xbmc. I'm going to test it now.

I get dolby digital 5 channel pass thru but only thru hdmi from my tv then optical to receiver using es music player. mx and built in music player will not play at all. You can also order an adapter that connects to sata dock to usb 3.0. I like how it has 3 usb hosts and takes full size sd cards. A rom based on sdk2 is also coming in early sept according to mele. Next test xbmc

Following the recent release of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, Allwinner keeps improving support for their A31 and A31s platform as they just announced a new SDK 3.2 update to improve the user experience with a fast boot in 5 seconds, shutdown in 2 seconds, the system should also be more energy efficient with 7mA consumption in standby mode. Some other system optimizations are also expected providing a smoother user interface and better scores in benchmarks software: ~4600 score for 3D Mark or 60fps with Epic Citadel. Allwinner ODM and OEM partners have access to the SDK update and should soon provide firmware updates to their customers.

Keep us updated, i am not happy with my Minix X7 so far as i use it almost only for playing video and it is not smooth enough for my liking atm.

I've had mine for a few days now and its a bit of mess.As the previous poster said, it hangs and crashes regularly. The CPU is clocked at 1ghz but can be raised SetCpu although raising it makes it completely unstable. I really hope future firmwares can sort it out as its a really nice box with potential.

I've been on 1.2.7 for 2 days now and not one crash so you might have a bad power supply. I've been comparing it to the cs918 I have running lewy v1.2.2 and while it is quicker I think the video and audio quality is better on the mele. I also get ac3 passthru on hdmi

I doubt the update will come this weekend. In this thread MeLE say on the 27th that the update will come within 2 weeks. The next day (28th) they suddenly change it to this weekend.

Heat problem

Hey guys, I also had the same problem of random reboots with my Measy U4K until I replaced its joky power adapter with a real 2.5A. Another reason is the overheating. A31 has more power consumption than its competitor RK3188 and as consequence more heat generation. So, do something about the heat dissipation and power source and you won't be disappointed. Here is how I solved my problem.

droidmote working?

Has anyone got droidmote working with this box? Installing busybox breaks Rom storage memory. Had to do a complete wipe and go back to 1.2.5 with sdcard flashing method. It hasn't crashed since then but still it's not as fluid as it could be. The hardware is not bad, the software needs big improvements.

1.2.8 update was available this afternoon but for some reason they took it down. I have it installed,so far so good.
