I have been interested in this box, would like to hear about it's capabilities. I have a T428, but want a box. Does it have real Dolby surround sound HDMI pass through. Does a webcam/mic work for skype. Is web surfing reasonably fast. Does it work with Google Play Store. Thanks in advance.

Well if MeLE finally comes with an update that solves the many problems I guess it can be a good box. A box that works way better already is the K-R42 which there is a community for. I would also take a look at the Minix X7 if I were you.

Personally I got the MeLE A1000G which I so far can't use for anything as well as the K-R42 which I use a lot.

A31 quad

I have been watching the Minix X7 very closely. For whatever reason (I don't know why) , I think the A31cpu will be better for multimedia purposes. I love my T428, but I don't think Rochchip will ever support a true multimedia experience.

I'm just the opposite I have both and use the mele because the video looks a lot better. Haven't had problems with the mele so far. The cs918/k-r42 with lewy custom firmware is a good box but I think the mele is better for both video and audio quality based on my experience.

It does ac3 pass through 5.1 over hdmi based on the wav file I tested which registered as 3.2.1 on my receiver. Don't use webcam but the mic works on my f10pro as I'm able to answer phone calls and do voice search. Web surfing is fine as is play store. Its a little slower than rk3188 chips mostly when opening files or applications

Does this rom have autohide option for systembar/taskbar?

If other boxes based on a31 are getting custom roms, would it be fair to assume that there will be custom roms for a1000g?

Personally I think the taskbar is required, no way to quickly check notifications

yea I thought it was strange not to have a taskbar on both launchers. I have to use the home button on f10 pro remote instead. No shutdown except on remote and often have to press it a few times for it to work.

Would you recommend purchasing this box now, or wait a couple of months to get all the bugs sorted out. I now have a T428, but not dependable, even with all the different roms that I have tried. I also have an MK818B, rk3088 chip. It works great, but a little slow and obviously no ac3 passthrough. My go to box is a Boxee box, it plays everything with full surround sound passthrough via HDMI to my A/V receiver. That is what I am loohing for. Will your device be able to replace my boxee box?
I am also thinking about the Genitech 1800, but can't much info about it. What are your thoughts?

A1000g is the one I use of the three I own

I have been using it for video only and I also have a t428 and a cs918. I'm not completely happy with any of them but the mele has the best video in my opinion and could be better with the right firmware. Right now I can only get ac3 pass through but only if I use es media player. Every other player I've tried down mixes to stereo.

can you give more feedback on the K-R42.
does Xbmc play without crashes?
can you play movies over samba?
can you fast forward movies over samba?
does xbmc read all your music database without crashing and can you then play music out of library?
can you use icefilms in xbmc?
can you search for subtitles in xbmc?

i want to change my a1000g to a K-R42 because i have the impression that Mele will never launch a good firmware for their box. Before i by the K-R42 i want to know everything is ok else i will be dissappointed again.
