Newcomer who just got his MK908 a few days ago.

I have to say of all the ROMs I tried, I've had the best results with this one, but still one issue remains with all, which is inconsistent WIFI speeds.

Please see this post for the details, but to summarize, when I first flashed the universal ROM, my wifi speeds became as I expected (same as my phone from the same spot), but on subsequent uses (and reboots), the speeds have returned to very low (about 5x to 10x worse than they should be) levels. Is this a hardware issue? Power supply? The signal from the router is very good and stable, it seems to me that this is an issue with the MK908. I haven't opened it up yet, but based on my date of ordering, I'm pretty sure I have a v3.

This rom is once again based on the stock rom released by tronsmart on 8/2/13 that supposedly works on the v3 sticks. It's the same system.img as my universal 2.0 basically but I have finally got a kernel working that has been verified on a V3 stick by Legitsu. The speed isn't quite what I want it to be yet but it does have the frameskip fixed as well as all my other usual kernel additions. Please consider this rom in testing phase right now as I have only had one user confirm functionality, although I think it's going to work alright. It runs great on my V1 stick as well, hence the "universal" tag. Please try it out as I think it will be the solution for V3 owners to actually have a useable stick at the moment. We will get the speed issues figured out eventually - basically it's locked at 1200mhz cpu speed right now. The kernel is 1080, but this rom will appear visually the same as a 720 rom does - it's just how this rom is.

thanks for this. only one complaint, VPN apps tend to crash the stick and rebooting. not sure if this is related to the tun.ko installer. or the VPN. I wanted to use mine to access mog in Canada. no luck on this firmware.

I can confirm this usind Droid VNC Server, once I shut the app Off, stick freezes

Please add touch screen & cam modules to kernel

I am using Vendor_0408_Product_3001.idc touch screen, which is plug and play in stock kernel, with your kernel is not supported. Also would you kindly add venus webcam modules to your kernel too.

My mk908 v3.0 arrived yesterday. Board inside looks identical to other photos of v3 here online, even with same date written on board underneath grey sticker.
Installed this rom immediately + cwm.

First impressions of rom:
After a couple of hrs of use and app installing everything seems to be running OK so far.
LAN connection via usb/LAN adapter good, subjectively better than on my MK808B (original) and connects automatically on startup.
Antutu score directly after rebooting: 12660

Not yet tested:
WIFI and BT
VPN
XBMC (but 720p stream via mxplayer+HW tested OK)
Skype with Logitech C170

Will backup to ext SD with cwm and try flashing 2.1 alpha rom next (maybe I'm one of the V3 lucky 1%!)

I used the cooler calculated on 12 V.
now it works on the current supplied from the standard USB input (5 V - that is enough).
All without screws, etc.
Do not forget to apply some thermal grease.
Important! do not squeeze too strong! You can damage the board!

If it is still of interest to you: I can confirm VPN and BT not working on v.2.01 on my v3.0 stick (BT discovers BT keyboard properly but will not pair). Also CWM does not start into recovery from reboot app, it just starts up normally to homescreen. Could still make cwm backup successfully to ext SD -without reboot/recovery- using a free onandroid backup app.
Everything else on v2.01 working very smoothly.

Just out of curiosity, could you try another reboot app from the play store? I've had the Reboot (no ads) work ok for me...

How to tell a mk908 is V1 or V3 please? Thanks.

Just use the flasher program included with the download. No need to change any options. You do have to start your stick in bootloader mode though by holding down the tiny button inside it and then plug it into your pc with a usb cable whilst still holding down the button. You do not want to power it with it's AC adapter for this part ideally, just the pc's usb port. In the flasher, do an IDB erase first (there's a button) and then when it's done with that, you can flash.

hi ,i just flash the rom to my MK908. the RKandroid TOOL said it's ok.but when it's connected with display , the screen is black after some words as system, formatting passed.now it hasbeen like this for almost 15 mins.and the bluelight is off.

now it's sovled.flash back to mk908-HW_V3-jjhkernel-v5.1-500mhz-1080p.img and it restarts .but why the mk908-HW_V3-jjhkernel-v5.1-800mhz-1080p,didnt work ?
