I tried with the new firmware and kernal with the XBMC for pass-through and didn't work just static noise. Also still runs hot to keep watching 1080p with no active cooling. I don't get how my iMito MX1 ran full 1080p like a champ no issues, but heat just kills this t428

hey Molle thanks for your 1080p kernel, i too would also like a 720p kernel if you can. i have two tv's one 720p and one 1080p so it's nice that i can now switch kernels with lewys new rom. if its possible i would be greatly thankful.

By request here are 720p versions of my overclocked kernel builds:

          1. Heavily oc'd

          2. Moderately oc'd

I have kept the dates identical to those of the corresponding 1080p kernels as they share the same sources and configs (except for the FB size parameter, of course).

I haven't really tested these builds except to check that they boot. So, please report any hiccups you might encounter.

Hi Molle, I try to install the kernel:

            (kernel_molle_20130922_t428_1080p_cpu1920h_ddr720_ gpu798h_cfgia_vsfsam.img)

            and

            (kernel_molle_20130924_t428_720p_cpu1800h_ddr720_g pu600h_vsfsam.img),

With the soft finless, but it was reboot problem.
            ---
Should we install the kernel otherwise?
            ---
the kernel 1080p is less powerful than the 720p, Is this normal?

I have now tested both kernels more thoroughly and have experienced no reboots etc. Both play videos as smoothly as their 1080p counterparts and pass AnTuTu without hitches. Unfortunately I'm not able to test with other ROMs at the moment.

I always use the 'RKAndroidTool' application from Bob's ROM packages for flashing the kernel images and have never had a bad flash. Normally I also flash the boot image (RK3188Loader(L)_V1.20) along with the kernel.

In general 1080p kernels show poorer results in AnTuTu than 720p ones as they have to draw more pixels in the graphics tests.

Hi Molle, I thought there was one other method to the install new kernels.

                I retested (for 2 hours),

                T428 Hybrid Firmware (HFW) 1.2.0 final + kernel_molle_20130922_t428_1080p_cpu1920h_ddr720_ gpu798h_cfgia_vsfsam.img

I have compiled a new ROM with the kernel_molle_20130922..., and do not update the kernel.

Ok, no random reboot, but the android stick very hot !( must add one fan I think )

                Thank you for answer.

Yes, kernels which oc the CPU to 1920MHz and the GPU to 800MHz can get the device very warm. Luckily I have found out that you don't need such extreme oc'ing for to be able to play 1080p videos without stutter, provided that the kernel includes Sam321's vsync fix.

You can always use the performance settings in HFW kernels to limit the CPU speed. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to control the GPU speeds the same way.

                    Hello guys!
Is it possible to build a kernel for MK908 with hardcoded 1280x800 resolution? Is it possible at all?

I have a very specific car monitor which is 1280x800, though it reports by edid that it is 1280x720. And it upscales 720p to 800p without any option to leave 16:9 intact.

                    Sorry for a noob question...

Some units are better than other, even if they're of the same revision.

About the PSU, if you really want to know how good the PSU is, try measuring the voltage on the USB port while it's running antutu.

Anyway, the kernel with stock frequencies is still a big improvement for video playback due to the video fix.

How high CPU clock can the stock PSU handle?

Might vary by the unit. I've seen instability even on stock frequencies under heavy load and with high ambient temperatures (hot attic room in the summer). Just start antutu and do a few full test runs, if it survives, then it's probably stable. Esp the CPU test seemed to increase power usage (measured by dropping voltage levels).

Can these kernels also be used with finless 1.4a(wich is the most stable rom i know).
Even netflix is rocksteady. Making the video playback smooth is the only thing this rom lacks.

                                Hey there dikkie,

I had the same problem, cause i only use netflix and the Bluetooth to connect the ps3 controller for emulator. I have the Mini Neo X7 finless 1.6 install with the custom kernel kernel_phja_720_vsfsam_cpu1608h_gpu600_ddr667 fix that comes with the pack for installation. Netflix runs smooooooth..

                                Give it a try...
