Have you tried using the apps from Google Play Store that install those modules? Maybe there is a problem with my insmod command in the boot.img file.

Sorry I am an idiot. It works fine!! Thanks for your trouble mate.

Ordered my M8 Pro 2 days ago

      Hey all

I ordered my M8 Pro 2 days ago from Banger's and can't wait to get it so that I can compare it to the Pipo M9 pro that I bought for my wife (and I keep using which drives her mad).

The M9 pro is running rileyrom 1.7a and I can't wait until my M8 pro arrives so that I can flash rileyrom 2.0a and start making some comparisons! I might have missed it previously but so far I've seen comparisons between the m8 & the m6..... between the m9 & m6..... and other various comparisons but, so far, I haven't seen a comparison between the M8 & M9 pro's

I can't wait to directly compare the following:

the performance of the same cpu/gpu running 1280x800 vs 1920x1200
9.4inch screen vs 10.1 inch scrreen
the form/ergonomics of the 2 different chassis'
      wifi performance
      battery life
& general performance & stability of everyday usage

I feel like it's the perfect time to start looking at the performance of these already 'established' tablets (even the ones that we have already compared and tested) once again for 1 big reason:
we always compare the newest tablets with their originsl crappy software and no improvements from our pro's here @ freaktab!

I think that if we revisited some models like the m8 & m9 now that the current rileyroms have turned what we we once called 'pretty good for Chinese tablets" into awesome, reliable, practical tablets that would compete with pretty much any tablet at any pricepoint, we might find that our views differ from our original thoughts/review?!

I think we'd all agree that these aren't the smae toys that first arrived in the post!

      please discuss

ps. as always, fantastic work to the crew at Freaktab tab and all involved in these epic things, we call, RileyRoms

        strange shutdown

        Hey,

i noticed some strange behavior with the roms, starting from 1.7 (or similar). When I am on the road with my Pipo M8 Pro, the device is usually off when I arrive at my destination. It somehow turns itself off. I have to power it up again. When I disable WLAN before I left the house, everything is OK. Does anyone have a similar behavior?
It is not a HW thing, IMHO. Tried to bend and shake the device a few time now, I think it is not because of vibrations or anything else while carrying the device....

        Help is appriciated

That process is supposed to only happen on the first boot. You need wifi connection before it will complete.

              Pipo M8pro and wifi direct

              Hi all,

I'm very new to this forum (it's my first post).
I've bought one pipo m8pro wifi directly in Pekin last week.
As soon as arrived at home, I successfully installed the RileyROM 2.0.
I must admit you did great job with this rom : many thanks !
Now my tablet has won around 15% on the AnTuTu score from 17000 with the native rom to 19800 with RileyRom.
I've not yet performed an in depth test of all the functionalities such as multiusers, multi windows, nevertheless everything seems to run smoothly except the wifi direct...

Whatever the rom, I succed to attach my pipo to my galaxy S3 in wifi direct but I cannot send nor received any file ... (It works between S3 and a S4)

Have you ever tried this ? What am I doing wrong ?

              regards
              Alain

                Newbie

                Hi all,

Just got my PiPo M8 Pro today, so far so good :-)

Now obviously it's time to get flash happy, and offer my thanks to Riley in advance.

One small thing... I've actually had difficulty finding any flash procedure guidance (other than PiPo's), I'm sure I'll figure it out as I haven't seen anyone else asking

                Again, mecri beaucoup!

Edit: Perhaps I should have looked in the zip................................. I'm not even going to bother double checking the OP to see it mentions that. D'oh!

In the root folder of the zip, there is a PDF called First Time User's Guide...read it a couple of times before you make your first attempt. The trick is installing the Windows drivers...after that you are good to go.

                  Good luck!!!!!

Cheers, I found it; all done.

The wipe only counted to 4096, unplugged device, unresponsive, tried unbrick procedure, still only counted to 4096. Flashed ROM, as I had my finger on the power button and didn't want to let go lol. Recovery booted, wiping began, I looked away, turn back and, screen off, device wouldn't respond. Repeated unbrick procedure, still only counted to 4096; this time I watched it wipe, and after it booted.

Not sure if this means I have an issue, although the touch sensitivity seems to be funny, or perhaps there's a general sluggishness... Anyway, I'll continue to test and see if it settles down.

I'm pretty sure the M8 Pro only goes to 4096. I think you are good to flash.

Do I need to update the firmware before I flashing my tablet?

No that isn't necessary. The ROM replaces the firmware.

I put a thread in the Pipo section on how to get your tablet into flash mode manually. Try that.

                              It is a sticky.

I'm mobile, so I can't give you a link to it.
