Guys, one more question, if we set video.use.overlay=0 to have 1080p can we then set different dpi to have bigger icons and text?

Also if they released they're kernel sources I'm sure it would be fixed in no time by some of the Devs on here, its just a sad state of affairs that tronsmart are releasing these products without them being fully tested.

lets run down the list again
1. check your cables
2. check your power supply
3. do a cooling mod ( the stock heatsink is trash) <<if you are getting reboots during video playback this is where you need to look
these devices do not function as advertised out of the box if you want that you are gonna need to speed more then ~70.00 usd

OC kernels

Thank you Mariano for the OC kernals...booted up ok on my mk908 v.1 nicely...Antutu benchmark was 18,542!! Now with CPU scaling...from 1200 to 1600 to 1800!! Now to test bluetooth and XBMC..

Too late ROM is done.
However it is super easy to edit framework-res.apk and replace it yourself! Just make sure you have 7-zip and you can open that and replace the mouse easy.

I just have to say for the people not liking this stock ROM. For me it works DAMN WELL. With my mods even better. While I cant test every damn scenario of how people use these things, I don't think everyone will like it.....

But for me, this ROM works the best for the 908 V1 (which I have) of any ROM so far where people expect to use it as a TV player.

Sometimes I think people expect:
1) Too much from Android OS
2) Too much from something they paid less than $80 for!
3) Too much from Dev's with no sources! Even having kernel sources DOES NOT MEAN we can make the ROM do every freakin thing that people will try to use this for! For that we need the full SDK and time to figure it all out!

true. i got a v3 and has stock rom
normal use. never flashed it nor updated it; the only thing i must say that sucks is video stuttering on youtube. signal strength? dont care i got a repeater next to it

example ... big buck bunny 1080p video
stutters always. feels like 15fps

they should have tested better. specially 1080p video before releasing this

I think I will try a cooling mod next as I have replaced both cables and PSU's, I also confirmed that last night my PSU's do put out 2amps so should be plenty to power the stick,

If a cooling mod does not solve it I will throw this junk in the bin and buy an ouya, I was going to go with this to start with buy thought this would have been a better option, How wrong was I. the ouya also works out cheaper than what I have currently spent my cash on.

Sorry bob but I have not spent as little as $80 dollars, I spent more like $210 usd dollar by the time I bought extra PSU's and a decent air mouse/remote to use with it,

I in no way blame the developers here and I do appreciate all the time you guys put in

Lets look at this logically here,

the stock 0802 ROM works great for me, NO reboots, No wifi issues but poor video,

most the other roms I have tried have great video, poor wifi and reboots,

Also to mention these reboots do not happen when watching videos but when downloading from the play store or when streaming stuff from the internet or my NAS, Both of which use wifi, IF however I put a video on my SD card I get no reboot but whats the point having a NAS and XBMC if you cannot stream to this device which is the sole reason I bought this device

Also I am not using this for anything out of the ordinary just to watch some stuff on XBMC & streaming from my NAS, Also most of them are not even in 720P format, the odd file I do need to watch in 720P because I cannot get them in lower formats but these also work fine when the device is not rebooting or having wifi drop outs

Going from experience of all the different roms I have tested I would say the reboot is invoked by wifi and not heat as sometimes the stick is not that hot, I will try the cooling MOD to see what happens but essentially I am not too convinces this will resolve my problem, I think hoaby was onto something about the voltage regulators being different and using different values,

Hoaby done a great job with 4.2.2.jjhmod.v2.2.universal as the reboots are minimal in this rom/kernel combination he has really done a great job here as everything is as you'd expect apart from the odd reboot,

I'm just frustrated that this new ROM they have released seems far worse then the 0802 rom which does not reboot or have wifi drop outs with me, I'd expect this rom to be the same as previous rom in respect to wifi and reboots and was hoping that all they would do is resolve the video issue that we are see'ing in the 0802 rom.

first day with my V3


-Removed the heatsink and attached a motherboard southbridge heatsink
-Didnt use the stock power adapter, it was the very same i got with an imito mx1.
-Used a nexus 7 power adapter.

Finally at the end of the day I had like 2 complete freezes. Both of the freezes were while browsing the internet, had to dissconnect power and reconnect. And a bad feeling because of video stutter playing HD in youtube.



i will try the rom from bob, then if there are still problems i give up to these mini android devices.

I think the issues are the V3 board. Remember I do not have a V3 board. I have a original. I have not had one single reboot crash etc.

It might be possible that this issue is V3 hardware has a problem that a ROM cannot fix?
