I'm very interested in seeing Ubuntu running on these little devices, as they offer an extremely affordable way to provide web-browsing, word processing, and basic productivity.
Once Ubuntu is running they can even be used as thin terminals for VMWare, CITRIX, or just good old UNIX/LINUX, allowing users to perform more CPU intensive tasks in a virtualized environment.

Is there any chance Picuntu will come to the K-R42?
It's built in ethernet and multiple full sized USB ports make it a good match for virtualization.

Also, can we donate to this project?
    1. PicUntu is definitely planned for KR42. Work in progress.

    2. It is used as thin clients even now - we are selling to enterprise customers, with Remmina (RDP for linux) and AccesstoGo (RDP for Windows) ... works flawlessly... Access to Go has the vmware client as well and works with vmware virtualised deployment.

    3. Donations - appreciate your gesture, but at this point of time, I am not looking for contribution , all I ask is, where/when you use it, put up "PicUntu inside" sign on it Thanks for the offer though.

Thank you for your reply. I am glad that the K-R42 will be supported, and I look forward to trying Picuntu out on it!

Does Picuntu have a website or a forum that it calls 'home'?

        Great to hear :-))

One question for the Linux guys: Will the optical audio output be supported? I would like to buy a good quality amplifier.

Yes, it should be simple enough... will work to clean up the base... standby.

Can this kernel work on mk908 v1?
BTW I managed to download it from the link above, but could not enter the download section on Picuntu Home (does it require registration? restricted access?)
If this kernel is not for mk908 v1 can anybody point me to a working recovery.img kernel for this device please! The only one I was able to run was by mmm123, but I could not get the sound working. Even tried Omegamoon git repository, but am not sure which initrd.img to use (the one produced from his sources does not seem to boot)
Could be also that I flashed to many kernels to recovery partition that it requires a full nand erase?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

                      Hello.
I have an android stick wich I belive is ipassport nc19a (rk3066) and wich have an SDIO wifi card based on
                      rtl8189es.
Is there workable driver for rtl8189es in the kernel ander the link in the first post?
And the second question, are kernel sources available with .config for those in first post?
                      Thank you for yours assistance.

This release is for 3188 chipsets only... will not be able to support 3066 chipsets. This cant be of much help here.

The previous versions of PicUntu - does run on 3066 - but not sure of the rtl8199es.

BTW: All my kernels are released with /proc/config.gz enabled, you can take a dump of live config from any of the kernels pasted above.

                          Hey guys,

could somebody help me out? I've been trying to get this working on a justop K10A (rk3188 ap6210)
I've managed to get hold of the 1.37 RKAndroid tool for windows.

But Finding instructions on how to use this tool has been pretty difficult.

So far, I've connected up my device, and got it recognised correctly (It's the same process as I use for the RKBatch tool, which I've had no problems using).

I tried checking the "recovery" row, clicking the button on the right and selecting the PicUntu 4.4.3 - PostJul13 - 1080p img I downloaded.

I then clicked "run" and the tool said it had flashed my device.... I rebooted and the device booted up in android... not linux...

So after some googling I found lots of posts stating that you need to click eraseIDB before flashing anything... So I did this... and repeated as above.... And now I don't get a booting device...

So whilst I'm sure I can fix my device with the batchtool ok, I still want to get this picuntu working... So What steps did I miss in the flashing of the device?

It seems I actually solved all my problems by using this tool

Excellent work - thank you. :-)

I've just ordered one of these so cant wait to try it out.

I was wondering though, does this install to the internal NAND memory or is it a mandatory SD install? I think I read somewhere that the Picuntu installer can now do NAND or SD with NAND being a hell of a lot faster. If not already supported, is that a road you plan to go down?

I'm just imagining one of these with your build installed to NAND with the Mali fully working replacing my RasPi media centre :-P it's gonna be blazing.

This version is to SD or USB flash / hard drive, v4.5 is to internal NAND.
