Well, I don't have my working files for that earlier ROM, based on official Pipo firmware.

I just downloaded it again, and I'll put together a NEW ROM from scratch.

We shall see if we get this straightened out.

      Thanks, Randy.

Not sure if this has meaning, but Google Play started showing my paid apps as showing paid, able to be loaded

Then I went and checked root with SD Maid, and it shows that it is still NOT rooted.

Really like the boot screen ...

OK ...so the home button still does not work (have to keep punching the back arrow to get to the home screen), and I should have mentioned earlier the installed browser with the rom would not launch. Dolphin Mini works fine though.

Thanks for all your hard work, Bro!

Downloaded from the starter comment for this thread.

Everything went smooth. I did have trouble loading the USB driver, but after much fiddlin' I was able to load the ADB version, but the tab was not seen by the flash tool.

Then used the method to flash using the volume control and a paper clip in the back .

When I did that the flash tool recognized the tab and everything else was smooth sailing ..no error messages or anything, just a seemingly perfect install.

So, you now have 4.2.2 on your system?

How much total NAND does the tablet have?

Do I need to do some further work on the ROM?

                V1.1a

OK, here's a new ROM to test.

I've updated the process, adding the autoinstall feature and Beyond XBMC Launcher as an option.

                This also contains TWRP Recovery.

It's based on the last official Pipo release of 3/13

I can't seem to upload to the Freaktab FTP, today...so this is a Google Drive link.

Sorry it took so long to get back ..out raking leaves.

Looks to have 2.36 GB of NAND.

                  It is Build # Android 4.1.1 SDK v 1.00.00

Downloading newest version now. I will report back.

                  Thanks again ...Randy

Randy. 1.1a won't flash. I get ...MSC can't do erase IDB.

                    Device is recognized.

                        Sorry about that.

I ran it successfully ...will report back. Not sure what I was overlooking, but it must have been something.

Just don't do this as often as I might.

Well ...it ran perfectly, but looks to be stuck in boot. It is still plugged up to the USB.

I will give it another go using the bootloop suggestion.

Well, I got 1.1a to reload, but it stuck again in bootup. Then I went back to 1.01, and it loaded; albeit with the same issues as before. Finally I tried 1.1 based on SumVoyager ..and viola it loaded and looks to be good. Rooted and 4.2.2.

Thanks for the help. Sorry if I frustrated.

                        Success!

                          Report on the 1.1 ROM

                          A report.

With the new SumVoyager Rileryrom 1.1 the Smart S1 has come alive. Jelly Bean 4.2.2 makes the RK3066 sing. The battery control and life is WAY better. The wi-fi is strong ...as strong as the wi-fi on the wife's LG G Pad 8.3.

Actually, I almost prefer using the little Pipo Smart S1 over the LG. Screen response seems almost better, and it loads smoothly and fast. Fantastic tab for the price paid.

                          Thanks again to Randy Riley.

                            1.1 Feedback

For whatever reason, 1.1 didn't work well the first time I tried, a week ago. After reading the last few posts, I tried again today. For whatever reason, it works VERY well, very responsive and smooth. And just as a bit of feedback regarding the pcb age, I got my S1 late in '12 as I recall.

Thanks for the effort. It is appreciated.

                              Agree. Very appreciated!

Very Smooth. Very few gapps with the install ...I like that.

I have only one issue. It will not auto rotate without 'Ultimate Rotation Control' app running.

Any problem with yours in auto rotating?

If yours is OK, I am going to do a fresh install again.

                              Thanks

It depends on the app for me. The home screen will flip in landscape mode, but won't go portrait. Most other apps will auto rotate, as expected. A few are locked in portrait, and will only flip in portrait. So I am going to say 1.1 is perfect in my second implementation. Best Wishes for your next try.
