I am not sure why that SoC requires so much more power than the other SoC's........ BUT I do like that they are using a 12 volt PS.........MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

It will run normal Android like all other S922 devices, but we'll see.
AM6 S922
Some extra info received:
It will have additional PCBA features not seen on tv boxes before like Wake on LAN, a special button for Maskrom mode, IR blaster, long-term support for Android, LibreELEC & Ubuntu Linux.
I see it also has better bluetooth v5 vs v4, better cooling with fan(will be able to adjust in firmware), real-time clock and should hopefully come with a 3A power adaptor and higher quality EMMC storage.
It will be interesting with what other manufacturers come up with.
Don't waste money on any MXQ, Alfawise S922 devices etc. since 90% of advertised features will never work.
I think most users already have an idea of what device brands to avoid that have no support but some people will still go with cheaper prices and complain later if things don't work.

Not sure I want to wait 2 months ... lol
i am so tired of my Mecool M8 L overheating and freezing that I need a change. Netflix stopped too but I don’t care as I have a tv with it.
The Mecool KM8, is OK but does not support the HD audio codecs. But the good thing about that device, you can dual boot it, so you can run LibreELEC or CoreELEC.
If you want the best device that supports all the audio codecs, including the HD audio codecs, if you want/need automatic frame rate switching, then ONLY the Shield can do that.
The second best device is the Xiaomi Mibox, but it is my understanding that the new Xiaomi Mibox S, does NOT support the HD audio passthrough...........MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

The Mecool M8S Pro L, is a good box, not sure why yours is locking up. I have 3 of the M8S Pro L, but only one modified with a fan. My last box I purchased was the Mecool KM9 with the S905X2 SoC, it is OK, but for my needs, it does not work. I have migrated from Kodi to Emby or Plex, but this box will NOT run those apps, so this box is useless for me.

the new Mecool k3 sounds interesting though but scared of Mecool again.

Not sure why it is running hot and locks up but there has been no firmware updates in over a year. Perhaps I should try running LibreELEC in the Mecool as lockup?s may be firmware related.

The KM 3 does sound like a decent device for less than $70 USD.MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68
