BETA testers for ROM for 1.5 Nextbook #1211

Well get ready guys. Google just updated the Market to 3.5.16. In the update process a bunch of apps were no longer available to me in the market. Then after the update and reboot, it worked again.

So expect an updated package.zip from me today for updated beta testing.

SO you guys DO NOT want the clear status bar?

I agree w/ Cybergost, the clear status bar looks awesome, however, for the reasons Cybergost laid out in an earlier post, I don't recommend including it for the Nextbook.

ya im ok with the currently one but i did like the looks for the clear one also. Since i use kindle mainly and since the bar disappears for me im fine with the current one.

I prefer the stock status bar. Main reasons: 1) it auto hides on programs that use full screen ie. Kindle 2) When it scrolls messages, they don't overlap like on the clear task bar, and are much easier to read.

I was thinking about going to modify my build prop to make it show as a nexus s see if i can get to anything that i cant via the normal nextbook build prop. Unless you have any other build prop that you might suggest.

What do you think. For beta purposes i wasnt going to do it right away for testing.

I wouldn't use any build.prop edits until after we test to ensure 1.5 is stable and working the way Bob intended. Once that is achieved, then you can use the Nexus S build.prop. I have other build.props you can use on the Nextbook, but found the Nexus S makes more apps available as it is the only true official Google endorsed device. If you want those build.prop edits just let me know, and I'll post them in the other thread.

Hey guys can you see if this finds "accounts and sync" settings.

Please go to the market and install an app called anycut.

Then run it and select new short cut button.
Then select Activity
You will get a big list of all kinds of stuff. Accounts and sync will probably show up 3-4 times in the list. I usually am OK with selecting the first one in the list. But some of those will FC and some will give us what we want.
When you select one it will put a icon on your desktop. Exit the progam and click the icon on your descktop
If it force colses or is not what we want, run anycut again and select a different one from the list.

What we want to see is if you can actually get one that gives you the REAL accounts and sync settings. You will know you have it as it will list "general sync settings" and below that "Manage Accounts". No account will show up if you have not added a Google account yet. At the bottom will be a button to add an account.

So let us know if you can actually get that using anycut. Miklaus will then know it is there and try to get it into settings.apk.

I have done what you have requested and i choose the first one and it was able to get to it. I see the options background data auto sync under general and manager accounts with add account at the bottom. I do see my account under manage accounts

Perfect THANK YOU! I will let Miklaus know. What we want to get is a settings.apk that give you guys what has been hidden but works. Why stupid tablet makers remove this stuff is beyond me but I am pretty sure they do it as they are not expected to be "google" certified and thus are forced to.

Tay tuned. When Miklaus figures it out, we will have BETA 4 ready which I think will be our last release

Funny - When i installed 1.5 b3, an app I have been trying for months to put on my NB7 (a local news app, WCAX) let me install it no problem! Before, market would tell me that my NB7 was incompatible! I thought my problem was the build.prop/ ro.fingerprint, but it looks almost exactly like 1.4. Not sure if it was Bob's new build, or the new market update. Even more confused about what the Market looks for to tell if it's a compatable device

By the way, Team.... 1.5 looks great, installed without a hitch..... LOVE the appinjector!!! Great work!!

I installed my normal apps, and this tablet just flys along. Boot-up is shockingly quick. Great boot screens and boot animation by Damo. All you guys get props. This $100 tablet does laps around some I've played with in the $300 - $500 range.
