How do I know if it is a newer version than what I have on my box (bought in June 2020) ?

I have t95max plus. rooting is big issue, but i have boot image patched by magisk that works.
It indeed roots stock firmware but the front led becomes useless.. but it works.
also twrp temorary works good for this firmware , by avoiding installing it to recovery img.
just install from stock recovery and it will be one time instance.

(still trying to figure out front clock display issue.. think it has to do with dtb/dtbo patching that magisk does)

boot into twrp via recovery (or update app)
patch boot img
install magisk zip

Will this work for the 4/64GB, is it based on stock ?

It should. They use the same stock img. Its modified to allow the root to work. Everything works expecy the front display of my t95 max plus

have you installed drivers and which usb port on box are you using? i used amlogic 3.1.0 currently.
theres probably tutorials elsewhere but I will give you a simplified one for this box...
Unplug everything.
Press and hold reset button (av hole)
using usb 2.0 port on box. black plug not the blue one plug into computer and amlogic should detect almost immediately

If you are using the latest version 2.2.0 or newer, then the USB drivers are installed when the tool is installed.

The solution ended up being go to the turewell website then find your device and it gives you the exact drivers and flash tool needed for your device

I have flashed it to my box using AMLogic USB Burning Tool 2.1.9, and I don't see any issues, but I am not responsible if it bricks your device.

Was wondering if u did any updates and going to share. If so let me know. Gotta T95 Max + for free and wanna try different firmwares.
