I haven't built CWM for the Next7HD8G yet, but it's high on my todo list.

Right now I'm working with the CWM version from CM10.

I doubt that CWM Touch will ever work well, because the touch precision isn't very high. I've experimented with TWRP, but the touch control was so slow and lagging that I won't release it, because it it was so bad that I don't want to support it.

        A terrible mess with models

No idea if the mess was made by Walmart or by Yifang "E-Fun Nextbook USA etc"
        .
The are dispatching the same device branded as M7000 or as Nextbook 7" Tablet 8GB Memory Dual Core M7000NBD (NX007HD8G).

If externally the devices are identical, internally are completely different:
Apparently the old model is AML8726-MXS Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 /1.5GHz.
The new one is RK3066 Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 /1.6GHz.

For the people without experience that mess can send them to big errors.
Are AML functionally similar to RK30xx?

That's Yifang Digital for you... they are notorious for swapping hardware components without changing device names, documentation or packaging... their ROMs are a mess too, full of files garbage script commands and properties left over from previous builds...

The RK3066 is a RockChip board... Firmware is completely different from Amlogic hardware, but very common and lots of devs around here who are familiar with them (not me though...)

I don't believe you can boot a Rockchip board from external SD card... that's a SOC feature of Amlogic hardware...

Actually... are you sure it isn't a Next7D12F? That had a RK3066 in it and there is a ROM for it right here:

Nope, my device is clearly the one that appear in Yifang site as M7000 here: http://www.yifangdigital.com/product/M7000.aspx branded by WalMart as M7000KBD (WALMM7000KBD) it sports Android 4.2.2. (And I manage to root it without troubles using Kingo Android Root, which have worked fine with all my tablets). BTW I love Rockchips stuff and this baby sports and amazing Antutu 9122 (Not bad!!).
My comment was due that I see lots of people in your thread having troubles with their tablet NX007HD8G, make by Yifang as M7000NBD here http://www.yifangdigital.com/product/M7000NBD.aspx .
As it can be seen it's identical to mine, with that characteristic plate border on top (or left side... on landscape). I've dealing with Yifang many years now, and they used to do this type of confusing moves.
I'm pretty sure that many of your thread participants have a RK3066 devices instead of AMLogic one .

Now I'm trying to obtain original firmware before start playing with it. I feel that such device can be an PIPO S1s, even can be an HP Slate 7. Who knows... give me some time and I'll have all that tested on my device.

              Thanks for your clue!

Yifang uses the same case designs for a wide variety of tablets...

I really hope they didn't swap hardware again, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me...

I was really looking forward to their upcoming quad core tablets, hoping they would be Amlogic, but now I wonder if they will be Rockchip...

I'm sure no one has installed one of my Amlogic ROMs on a Rockchip based tablet, because Rockchip devices can't boot recovery from an external SD card... that's an internal feature of the Amlogic chip.

Could you upload your stock build.prop so I can determine how best to identify the two models?

                ShaunMT

P.S. I've yet to see any Nextbook with a system version newer that 4.1.1, although the US models announced for 2014 are supposed to come with 4.2, but I don't think they are on the market anywhere yet.

I was surprised too when I receive the device with Android 4.2.2, nothing important except that I like a lot Google Now Launcher. In general is a really powerful machine and I want to install a more polished version of the firmware like it should be Pipo S1S. I have some RK2818, RK2918 with Oma Rom, an Ainol Novo 7 Aurora and the best phablet available nowadays Samsung Note 3.
Enclosed is the build prop of this Yifang M7000 (AKA Onn 07DX).
I'll try to find a way to extract the firmware for security purposes.

Hehe... definitely an interesting build.prop and one I haven't seen before...

Surprised the device is branded yifang instead of eFun, Prestigio, Master-G, etc...

Even more surprised the Over-the-Air update server is identified as www.rockchip.com which belongs to a Texas business that repairs rock chips in auto windshields... I wouldn't count on getting any firmware updates from them!

As usuall, a yifang ROM looks like a complete mess...

Now I get your joke about your rockchip address... it's www.rock-chips.com.

Due to destiny fate now I have an AMLogic board mounted in my tablet. I blown the Rockchip tablet and the people of support bring me a new version (sic) of the board of the tablet, which happens to be an AML8726-MXS Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 /1.5GHz or Yifang M7000NBD.
Of course, I was wanting my beloved rockchip but AMLogic board is better than the one I spoil doing the short circuit recovery. Despite that the clock mark 1.5GHz instead of 1.6GHz AMLogic is faster. Differences in speed comes from GPU chips which are real dual process while Rockchip is not. I was happy with the Antutu of around 9122 as I wrote above, this cutie brings 12951, which seems to be a bit faster . So you'll see me testing your roms in my new toy!!

Yes, Amlogic hardware is well known for outperforming similar Rockchip hardware.

I think I've got some new files coming eventually for your new model... need to verify it is the same board that is in my 7 inch.

NextBook did the RIGHT THING and replaced my NX007HD tablets

Originally posted by Skorpion View Post

I've tried cross-referencing the build.prop between the two tablets to see if anything else obvious was missing but it has proven difficult. If you could give me a dump of Android System Info it might be helpful in determining if there are any other missing feature lines in the build.prop file.

If there's a different component on board it would make flashing the ROM a bad idea, but I'm considering patching in the shared objects for the Mali-400 because they are slightly different file sizes - hoping it's a driver issue.

Nextbook as a company is basically garbage, they deny the existence of the NX007HD, try to say they are the same tablet, and give a lame excuse that the tablet is "not compatible with all software available on google play" - even though it comes pre-installed with google chrome and can't download an updated version of it, they seem to think that's just fine. At one point, hey grudgingly said they would send a support request to Yifang but didn't actually do anything, don't call back, etc. It's a real shame because the tablet works very well once you sideload the games onto it. At this point, NewEgg is trying to get them to fix it, but if they can't more than likely I'll just get my money back and move on.

Agree on the documentation, but hadn't noticed the discrepancy on the CPU frequency.
I received a private message about this thread, and just in case anyone else is wondering - I never managed to get these devices fixed. BUT, after working with NextBook tech support for a few months they acknowledged the problem and issues RMA replacement for all my devices and swapped them out for brand new devices with more recent manufacture dates. The devices I now have were manufactured October 2013 and are working perfectly. One has been replaced so far and I am dropping the other 3 in the mail today.

Kudos to NextBook support for doing the right thing once they understood the problem. I even got a nice e-mail from one of their Sr. support reps thanking me for providing detailed information (which I owe a thanks to the members of this forum for providing the build.prop and ROM dump on the more recent tablets!) that allowed them to properly understand the issue. I can only imagine they are going to send them all back to China or get a new ROM issued at some point, but since I have new devices now my personal nightmare is thankfully over!

Good for you Skorp! First time I've heard of Nextbook actually doing something!

                                AML8726-MX vs AML8726-MXS

                                Hi,

I've seen many roms for AML8726-MX for Ainol made by Christian Troy.
Are some of them portable to AML8726-MXS?
                                BTW... what's the difference?

I'm interested specially in his CM11 (4.4.2) mine is infamous NX007HD8G.
                                Does this has SElinux kernel?

Maybe I've should ask for this in Troy site, but mine is Yifang / Nextbook stuff.

                                TIA
