Help identify possible t r42?

Hi. I bought this device on Amazonhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Quad-Android-1-8GHz-Output-HI718/dp/B00E7OSRBE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387020280&sr=8-1&keywords=cs918 I thought I'm buying cs918, but before I flashed custom ROM, I've switched it on and noticed it had bluetooth option. So possible device is t r42. Unfortunately soon run into troubles. After flashing Wasser, or Lenny firmwares device always gets stuck on boot animation

All version 2 firmwares ends up in black screen.
When I opened device I can see serial number which is not simular what other people reporting zxsd zx005 v02. And the date 2013 08 25

So I'm stuck on boot logo. If someone could help me with advice. I'm trying to find factory firmware, but no luck. Thanks

It has the words
cs918
BT as bluetooth
V5 as your board number

Just a thought..
I was browing a site.. for updated to my device.. when i came a cross the above link..

Or ask your reseller for a Rom/img/brush/firmware

note.. firmware is in chinees Brush.. it seems

Wierd that review comments.. state its a cs918..
its clearly a new version or clone..
-perhaps you are the first beta tester.. lol
--I googled.. abit but could not find anything..
Perhaps.. the reseller isn't aware.. of this new revision.. so, maybe wise to contact him/her

I had the same issue. The first time I flashed with the wasser 1.2.3 rom the screen jus hung on the bootup loader. I then downloaded the V1 Stock Rom from Geekbuying and flashed it and it worked fine. I then loaded Wasser 1.2.3 again and it worked fine.

Looks like jimbo identified the board. I'll quote what he wrote


I had one of these sent to me in amongst a few k-r42 v2.1 i bought on ****. Flashed them all with wassers rom and only found out it was different when i was testing them all.

I've tried all the k-r and t-r roms and they all fail on the splash screen. I have noticed some on screen corruption, so maybe the HDMI output module is different.

After a bit of digging around, this is the device http://www.szzxsd.com/31.html.

I've emailed the manufacturer to see about getting a copy of the stock firmware. In the meantime, can anyone help get this back up and running. I've got hi-res images of the PCB and should be able to make out the part numbers of all the components on the board.

Gedas3 - Found a factory image for this box that seems to work. looks like it is a CS918 (or clone).

Currently uploading the image to a hosting site since it took 5 attempts and 8 hours to d/l from baidu.

hopefully one of the devs here will find it useful for getting custom roms working if more of these devices show up.

Going from the filename, image was only built yesterday.

All seems to be working ok - bt/wifi, haven't checked ethernet yet. seems to be a fairly snappy little box. Comparible with my k-r42 running lewys hfw

Shame about the soldered wifi antenna tho. looks like its just waiting to break off the board.

I was recently sold one of these boards as well. I'm having absolutely no luck even getting it to the splash screen. Has anyone dealt with getting this running when it will only stay in standby mode?

Are you sure it is the same board. If you are then you could try flash factory image provided by jimbo

Got the same box , with same board rev. Has anyone found any 1080p roms for this?

I think the main issue is that this particular board rev has Realtek RTL8723as WIFI/Bluetooth combo as to other rev of t-r42 or cs918 the chip is AP6210.
