Either 7-8 or 8-9. It takes a little trial and error, and finesse to make it work.

Rather than posting here for specific ROM questions...please post on the thread of the ROM you are running. I can't give you an answer without knowing the model and ROM number.

I've been stripping the Pipo Launcher from my later ROMs to prevent these issues.

YOU MUST FLASH THE LOADER if you go back and forth between Jellybean and KitKat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In post #2, I will go over the procedure to unbrick your tablet after you have bricked it by forgetting this VERY IMPORTANT STEP in the flash process.
Would it be a good idea to add something at the start of the first post of each of your ROMs that point to this thread? Add a big warning sign as well to make people read it. This should stop people that are downloading the old ROM from the website.

                  Just an idea..

I could do with a hand reversing mine I have searched for the roms and cant find them nor can i actually find the software you use to flash, I have found a page that everyone points to download the flash software here and everything seems to be adverts for image files.

M9 Pro 3G some plonka put 4.4.2 on I want it back to 4.2.2 started a thread forr it but it seems no one knows a step by step or where to get the files from.

Problem : error when check download (after unbrick)

                      Hello,

I had bricked my device (wrong Loader 1.24 with 4.4 russian rom flash - totally my fault messing with google translate from russian instead of reading here) ...

After the bad flash and failed boot, I was stuck at "Testing device 100%" or Total(16384) Current(16384) when flashing (no mask rom then)

I've got this NAND : 29F16B08JAMD1 (same one on the picture in 1st post) and could'nt find any specs or datasheet, so I tried shortening the pins just below the 1st white line close to pin 1, I counted 7 and 8, with no success, I also tried pins 8 and 9...
but finally I got the "maskrom" status when shortening pins 6 and 7 (I'm quite sure about the pins though it's so small...)...

Then I had to Erase IDB twice, cause I got errors...

Then it worked and I could flash 2.2.1 Riley rom...

I stopped shortening the pins after a 1 minute of download (something like 10000K of the 30000K download) - I think I could've done it earlier.

Fially first flashed failed at "Checking download data"
and in log I had :
                      Error:Compare system file failed,Offset(257949696)

I did a second flash attempt (no need of maskrom) I noted down the error "ERROR: download file failed" happened right after "Checking download data (Size 569072)K. Checked(30448)K" here is an extract of the log :
21:51:45 905 INFO: Download files to flash finished,Total(582730668)B

                      21:51:48 522 ERROR:Run failed

I tried booting the tablet which started recovery and format /data /cache... then I had the blue circles animated boot screen but with no animation for a few minutes until I resetted...

Then I flashed the 20130514 pipo 4.2.2 firmware with RKBatchtool 1.7 and I got an error during check of firmware download here is the log :
                      22:08:30 085 <Layer 2-1> Test Device Success
                      22:08:30 090 <Layer 2-1> Download Firmware Start

                      22:11:03 903 **********Upgrade Done Success<0> Fail<1> Time<349005>ms**********

Then I could only boot my tablet when plugged in... recovery format again, then Pipo power on screen, then nothing...

So I tried flashing again the russian 4.4 rom after flashing the RK3188 2.10 (or 2.08) bootloader with ... but again a fail at check of download (log below) :
                      22:29:07 022 <Layer 4-1> Download Firmware Start
                      22:31:04 105 <LAYER 4-1> ERROR:RKA_File_Check-->Memcmp failed,Read(1048576)

                      22:31:04 118 <Layer 4-1> Download Firmware Fail

and finally - with no more success - I tried once more flashing the Riley rom 2.2.1 and had an error immediatly after the "Start to check download data line"... note that the log is not the same as the one from 21:51:45 just above...

22:42:25 609 INFO: Download files to flash finished,Total(582730668)B

Well, so my tablet is still broken, now when powering up (5 seconds) I start in bootloader (screen off)...

So any help or advice would be greatly appreciated !
                      Thanks

NB : I also tried testing bad blocks with rkdevelopment tool... it tested 8192 blocks (not 16384) the first time and seemed stuck... after I clicked again it tested 16384 blocks with only 'G' results for CS0 to CS3... don't know what this mean....

I also found something weird my Intel nand chip is not correctly identified (Micron and not Intel) :

sometimes I get this in the log :

                        Hello,

well my tablet seems back from the dead...

I was in a very bad situation see post above.

Also during flash the test phase was testing 8192 blocks and not 16384...

The 3 last steps I did were :

                        1) Tried once more to flash 4.4 using RKDevelopTool
                        - erase all blocks + erase ID
                        - flashed loader 2.10
                        - flashed 4.4 sergiopoveroni - failed but I saw again the test of 16384 blocks : progress !
                        - Erase ID again

                        2) Flashed 1.24 bootloader only (only box checked) using ROM_Flash_Tool_137

                        3) Flashed Pipo Stock M8 pro 4.2.2 chinese with RKBatchTool 1.7 and to my great surprise : success !

Well now I think I'll try again flashing 4.4 but with correct 2.10 bootloader I'm feeling lucky !

Ok, I've also bricked my device with not flashing loader for kitkat version (1.8) and tablet freezed in boot screen whenever i tried to turn it on, and couldn't boot properly. So before opening device and trying to physically change anything i tried to find a way for fixing it without that. On this topic user keeshg wrote that he succeeded fix tablet without opening it so i said why not to try his way.
This was my procedure (similar to user keeshg):

                            1. Download pipo's tool for upgrading firmware here: http://www.pipo.cn/En/index.php?m=Ab...ian_show&id=70
                            2. Download firmware for your version of tablet from here: http://www.pipo.cn/En/index.php?m=About&a=gujian
(Mine was pipo m6 no 3g)
                            3. Start tool from pipo's site (from step 1.), and load .img file for your tablet (from step 2.) by clicking on according button.
                            4. After loading firmware connect tablet with PC, and then press buttons "volume +" with "turn on/off"
                            5. One of squares on tool graphical interface will change color.
                            6. Click on upgrade button on tool (from step 1.)
                            7. ***
                            8. Upgrade will start, square can change color, blink, on terminal you can see procedure going forward
                            9. On tablet you'll see recovery mode, installing new(old) firmware, and then rebooting to that firmware
                            10. You can turn on and use your tablet in chinese mode

Seventh step is *** because in tutorials on this forum usually you are advised to hold one button, or more of them during whole procedure, and some tutorials are saying something else. Anyway i tried to hold buttons, but then upgrading failed few seconds after starting, so I tried to release buttons right after clicking on upgrade button and procedure continued and ended successfully. (i suspect that holding buttons reseted something and connection with PC was lost because of that).

After "upgrading" to 4.2.2. device was working normally and PC recognized it also normally.

Now i've finally installed rileyrom 1.8 and everything works fine :yay:

Thanks @rrileypm for ROM's and thanks @keeshg for just giving advice to try unbrick device without opening it.

                              First post needs more detail

It seems that not only do you have to check the loader when flashing back from KK to JB, you also have to do the Erase NAND with the KK version of the Flash Tool.

It would be a big help if that was mentioned from the outset. It is mentioned in another thread, but not in this one.

                                Hmmmmm

I try not to provide duplicate information in multiple threads. Sorry for the confusion, but it's just best for everyone to know where to go to get the appropriate information.

Actually, you simply stated the whole process in your post. It isn't that difficult, but it IS something you MUST do.
