Arnova 9G2 ICS - Full Root with Google Play - ROM V1.2 by Finless

just upgraded mine to ICS Finless 1.2... a few notes about it...

I've successfully upgraded my 9G2 to Finless ICS v1.2 last weekend.

A couple of notes:

- It's now more responsive at first, including the new ICS browser
- My ZTE MF110 3G modem is now being automatically recognized and working flawlessly for the first time with this tablet
- The RAM is draining very quickly, meaning that, in average, it stays with 20MB or less of free memory at most, if I don't use any widgets. I have to keep killing apps all the time in order to browse the internet and keep the table usable, for instance
- As told in a previous post, it looks like the video in Skype Calls is zooming in all the time
- Anyway, knowing that it's still just a stock version with Google Play and with all the progress Bob made with the other non-ICS versions, it looks very promissing!!

I believe THIS is why most production tablets with ICS are now coming with 1 meg of RAM. After much study, it appears ICS is a RAM hog and needs much more than Gingerbread did.

So it is what it is... However... Learning how Android OS works now with my 2.0 ROM, I think I know how to allocate memory better. Not saying for sure but I found some interesting settings that could be tweaked for ICS running on only 512 megs of ram. BUT it could have a perforamnce hit too....

I will play later.... Much later sorry.... ICS on a 512MB ram 9G2, it is what it is for now.

I hate to be ungreatful but I really don't want to except any money to my account. I just don't want to be sent money as it is a "thing" with me to not do so.

So if one of you wants to manage it and send me the 9G2, that I can work with. This way I am not tempted to use the cash for something else

A little marginal note:

with ROM v1.2 the 3G-Stick works perfect and so easy.

WiFi off - Stick inserted - after 20 sec. 3G-Symbol - Browser opened - Google -

This rom is much better as any gb rom for 9g2. It boots faster, it runs faster, wifi connects much faster. It's not perfect but who is . On start you have about 281MB available.

This rom runs really well shame they released it with rubbish flash support. I use netflix to much to keep it

Is it possible to store a limit on background processes? You can set the limit in the developer options, and setting it to 2 or 3 seems to keep a good amount of RAM free and keeps the tablet quite responsive, but the option resets to the default setting when you restart the tablet.

is it possible to put the Play-Store on a 9G2 that has already Stock-ICS by Arnova Installed, without flashing the 1.2 ROM, i made a copy of my store an sent it to the user who asked my, but it didn´t work.

Is there anything else to do or is it impossible without flashing ?
