Ugoos UT2 - Reviews?

ordered mine off geekbuying.com last night was cheap enough with dhl so hopefully get it next week sometime,
currently own the minix neo x7 mini .
8gb is useless its laggy and im done with it.
this one seems more stable and 32gb of storage you cant go wrong

I don't understand how you have got a T model as Ugoos assured me that they would not be selling the T model at retail. The only ones that had the T chip should be the versions that were sent out for testing purposes like the one I received originally, I don't know if someone has sold you one of them.

My new retail model behaves far superior to the one I originally had with a T chip. It really is night and day. My retail version had Beyond XBMC 3.3 installed on it also so it has to be pretty new.

See Flumpster thats what I thought too. But I guess I have delt with a less than reputable company. We'll see if I get a responce to my email. Perhaps I should notify Ugoos too? They may want to know someone is deep sixing their reputation.

before you loose out on a really good box....keep in mind that it only APPEARS that MINE has a "T" chip in it. Just don't buy one from the dealsprime.com site.

However, the unit I got from you only displays the CPU running at 1.4ghz (Using Antutu Benchmark apk) and this is the speed of a RK3188T chip and is NOT what I expected when I ordered my Ugoos UT2.

Hello,

Sometimes Antutu and some benchmarks incorrectly report specifications on some devices. Also, the name of the Arm series of CPUs can be misleading with A7 A9 and Armv6 ArmV7 and so on. Also another factor to take in to account is that sometimes the operating system Kernel of the firmware of a device is updated for another device and the hardware name labels are incorrectly set by the device manufacturers hardware engineers. This doesn't mean you are getting less features or performance, it's just a name tag that has been attached at a firmware level. The hardware is correct and the performance is correct. One of these factors maybe causing the specifications to be reading incorrectly in your benchmark or sys-info application.

CPU's are rated higher than they run. So, for 1.6ghz you would need a custom / optimized ROM which has not been released yet. 1.4ghz is what the tablet clocks at out of the box.

regarding screens, different benchmarks read differently (for example antutu is always lower).

I’m assuming that this is not a Tchip??

Can someone direct me to more info on the following?

What are the advantages of using custom roms?

Here is what I noticed, the on button LED seems to be related to the kernel.

It seems to be the kernel size...

Ugoos said they use the RK3188 on the UT2 model.
we are trying to get the stock firmware for UT2 32gb from them, once get, will post on blog.geekbuying.com

and we already get the UT2 8GB stock firmware here

Update: just confirm with Ugoos, you can also use this firmware on your 32GB version!

the custom roms usually fix the problem in stock rom, and give you root, google play fix etc. of course, if you are enjoy the stock rom, you can keep on it.

Since I used Paypal to make the purchase I have asked them to assist in getting the matter resolved. Furthermore I have asked Ugoos if there is a way to determine for sure that I have a "T" chip. If I do how did I get a unit that has one when they advertise NONE are being made available for retail sales. When I get an answer from Ugoos I will use that info to deal with Paypal and dealsprime. They, delasprime, even have a youtube video of a unit being tested with Antutu and showing 1.6ghz!! This link was supplied to them in the last email I sent and all I got in return was just more BS about where I can get XBMC??? WTF is that? Don't really care about getting it I was telling them the Beyond XBMC was not pre-installed on mine. Which is just another indication that I got a beta or pre-release unit or some other such thing. I also let Ugoos know this too as I'm sure they don't want some dishonorable people selling their products that shouldn't be sold!

So basically, I'm waiting for a return from Ugoos to try to figure out what i DO have...

Oh and would this mean anything as far a it being a "T"?

flhthemi, I have got in touch with my contact at Ugoos and directed him to this thread. I am sure there has been some sort of mix up with dealtime if they really have sent you one with a T chip in and I hope that Eugene will come in and clear this up for you all as my new machine is running bloody lovely.

I have not even put a custom rom on it yet and I am really impressed with how smooth everything is.

I know you have nothing to compare to but my T model test machine stuttered even moving between home screens and bringing up the app list. My new version without the T chip there is no lag at all if this helps at all.
