I've just tried to tell you about huge pile of information concerning "T" chips OCing.
My device is little different from your and has small heatsink installed by factory. I don't use any additional cooling.
I tried to test 1800/798/800 kernel and measured temperature with IR thermometer. Temperature wasn't higher than 50C during AnTuTu(it's kind of extremal loading). Please pay your attention that high CPU clock isn't too important in compare to GPU and DDR clocks. I'm sure you'll be happy with 1608/798/800 for Movies/Emulation purpose and without any risk to fry your chip.

I originally bought my stick for Movies/Emulation and while I'm happy with the Movie part I'm finding Emulators like Retroarch run quite sluggish on my stick.

Btw are you using any added cooling mods with your current setup? I dont want to go overboard with the overclocking settings, just enough to get Retroarch running as it should

    Thanks again.

And just to be sure finless t428 rom is compatible with the Mk908?

    Thanks

would it just be a matter of replacing my current Kernal with your one? I'm currently on finless 1.8 which isnt KK if I remember right

    Thanks.
You would need to flash the t428 finless ROM then flash your kernel. I would say 1.6 to 1.7 is safe just don't use performance governor.

A lot of people here and me too have this crappy T chips inside.
Thanks to d33's kernels and KitKat you can be much more happy with your device.
If you are really interested, try to spend your definite time for reading this whole thread and in addition these two

I hope you'll find good alternative.
I have my T-based box(not of your model stick, it doesn't matter) runing 1080p cpu1704/gpu798/ddr800 and it plays all kind and sizes of movies great.

Your screen artefacts can be caused by shortage of power from your stock power supply adapter.
Firmware(with kernel included) from first page has lower power consumption due to the lower CPU/GPU/DDR speed adjustment.
d33's kernels require a little bit more power because they have higher clocks.
Just try to use another PS(at least 5V/3A) and I can bet your artefacts go away(my bet is 75% against somebody's 25%).
    Thank you!
I thought about adapter (i have a stock adapter China), but did not believe it.
One of these days I'll buy a new adapter and write about results!
    Thanks for help! =)
