I'm very interested by this product.. but can you confirm theses issues are still not solved ?

1. S802 chipset instead of S802-H for some boxes
2. Payed Apps don't work
3. Ethernet port issues
4. A/V asynch with XBMC

The maximum CPU frequency is also only 1.6ghz at the moment and not 2GHz as advertised. The box also runs quite clunky as the kernel is scaled badly. Again Geekbuying have said this will be fixed this week.

Yeah, it should be able to be fixed by a new ROM. They're using a tablet kernel in this box which isn't at all optimized for a TV box.

I use a Mac. Absolutely. I did adb sideload for Finless 1.2 myself.

Download finless 1.2 and read the readme. That works for both USB thumb drive or sdcard. You don't need your Mac at all (unless you want to download finless 1.2 on it)

After 1 day with VEGA Standard version, i can say it's really a true improvment on other RK3188 TV box.
It s so fast and smooth... a pleasure. IR command with stock browser is quite cool too.

So, at the moment, stock kernel is a mess... just a phone kernel, so i can imagine how it ll be nice with a true, optimized kernel

About passthrough, for the moment, no DTS or 5.1 with MX player or last nightly XMBC.. maybe just possible with stock XBMC (hacked?).

I think our prefered cooker will have a lot of fun with this new TV box... And big up to Bob for first cook rom!!!!

XBMC nightly does passthrough perfectly. Check your settings and try again. MX Player will not do passthrough on this chip.

Hi Eric,

When is Tronsmart version with S802-H chip expected? Will it have an external antenna?

I've downloaded Trickster mod and used the frequency lock to change the max to 1.99 and minimum to 1.4ghz and the box absolutely flys (although you can't antutu using the trickster frequency it seems to mess it up).

Do you check it with CPU-Z?
BTW: What about the temperature?
